Insite Radio is the first ever radio station primarily focused on the African communities in Nottingham. Insite radio was set up on 15 December 2013, to create a media platform for the African communities residing in Nottinghamshire and her surrounding counties. Jacob Opoku after completing his media degree at Nottingham Trent University realized that, Nottingham had nearly ten thousand African leaving, studying and working in the city yet there was no media platform to entertain, educate and inform ourselves as a community. Coupled with the feeling that, the Africa community although numbered nearly ten thousand were excluded and marginalized from the electronic media and the idea that Africans and African descends need to tell their own stories in their own voices in order to inspire more people of the African descend to focus on development initiative, Insite Radio was launched
