More informationJ Grigdes grew up as the middle child in a bi-racial family of three boys in Indianapolis, IN. As a young child he was influenced by both his Father playing the piano and guitar, and his Mother singing and playing records around the house. His passion for music was first realized at the age of thirteen when he was given a set of turntables as a Christmas gift. Inspired by the film "Juice" (starring Tupac Shakur) J Grigdes took on the stage name DJ Juice and began deejaying in his basement. Since most 12" vinyl records came with an instrumental on the B-side, J Grigdes began experimenting with his own rhymes over other artists beats while deejaying parties. It was then that he found his voice and decided to come from behind the turntables and pick up the microphone.
Before leaving Indianapolis, IN J Grigdes had his own radio show on 89.3 fm WJEL for two years (from 2002-2004). His love for music and deejaying had led him to pursue radio in Chicago, IL where he attended Columbia College and graduated with a degree in Radio Broadcasting. During the time he spent at Columbia, J Grigdes hosted a college radio show titled: "Hip-Hop 101" with co-host DJ Kutz on 88.1 fm WCRX "Chicago's Underground." The show ran from 2006-2008. Upon graduating, J Grigdes linked up with Chicago native DJ MoonDawg and joined "Get In Tune Radio" on WUIC as a co-host and special guest DJ. He interned at Chicago radio stations before he landed a job with Crawford Broadcasting (WPWX Power 92.3) where he is still employed. Tune into J Grigdes Monday through Friday on WYRB Power 106.3 fm in Rockford, IL from 10pm-2am. Also listen to J Grigdes Saturday mornings from 2am-6am on WPWX Power 92.3 fm in Chicago, IL.
