Jim Johnson is a lifelong Detroiter who grew up in Redford Township and graduated from Lee M. Thurston High School. He played football and studied broadcasting at Central Michigan University. His career in Detroit radio began in 1975 at WWWW and has continued across the dial at WRIF WLLZ WCSX and now WOMC. You have known him as the host of “JJ & the Morning Crew” and the “JJ & Lynne Show” for much of the last 30 years. Jim is the consummate cheerleader for the city of Detroit and in particular its musical heritage. Jim has been introducing his audience to what we now call “classics” since they were brand new. He knows the music its history and he knows the artists. Through his radio shows, JJ has also been able to participate with and aide numerous local charities helping to raise awareness and millions of dollars for their causes. Jim has four children and lives in Bloomfield Township with his Wheaton Terrier “Murphy”.
