Lesson 1 (Series 2) - The Interview Gone Wrong

2/27/2018
Well, we're back with a new series of European Portuguese lessons. We've been working on these new episodes for a few months now and it has taken us longer than anticipated, but we're very happy with the result so far and we hope you will be too. There are a few changes you will notice straight away, the chief of which is the fact that everything is visual now, including the scenes themselves. This has meant an almost 10-fold increase in workload, but we feel it will be worth it for you European Portuguese learners as it should make everything more engaging. But the biggest news here is that we're creating a membership program. It's called The Journey and you can learn all about it here. Obrigado a todos. P.S: Have you had a look at our new T-Shirt range? (All creative kudos go to Héber Medina) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM8_PX_HcCY Portuguese Transcript S - Não não, sou alfacinha. É para a televisão? C - Sim, estamos em direto para a Carla TV. Mas diga-nos, faz-lhe confusão todo este barulho causado pela construção. S - Ah isso do barulho não é comigo que eu sou um bocadinho surdo sabe…mas já agora, podia mandar um beijinho para a minha família que está no estrangeiro? C - Talvez numa próxima ocasião… Source

So, get ready to sing along. Esperemos que tenham gostado dos podcasts até agora! More content will be coming very soon. Stay tuned! Lesson 49 - Speaking through the elbows in European Portuguese

12/17/2017
Podcast 49 is a European Portuguese lesson with a twist. Our usual colloquial conversation, with a great Portuguese idiom. But this time we challenge you to a first half all-in-Portuguese-lesson. Don't worry, we explain everything later on in the lesson. :) Desfrutem! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KJZDQzQDuA Dialog [zoomsounds_player source="https://portuguesewithcarla.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/pwc49-dialog.mp3" config="audio-quiz" playerid="14667" thumb="" autoplay="off" cue="on" enable_likes="off" enable_views="off" songname="" artistname=""] P - Olha estes. São giros… T - Se ainda andasse na escola e tivesse borbulhas na cara, talvez… P - Não sejas parvo! E esses aí às riscas? T - Não gostei! Coloridos demais para o meu gosto. P - Ah, deixa de ser esquisito. Estão em promoção e tudo….são mesmo estes. T - Patrícia…Patrícia… P - O que é?! T - Aquele não é o marido da Sónia? P - Ah pois é… anda, rápido! Vamos para os provadores! T - Qual é a pressa? P - Vá…antes que ele nos veja, o homem fala pelos cotovelos. Links: O novo Guia da Conversação, em Português e InglêsVitinho

Lesson 48 - Why "31" is not a good number for European Portuguese Speakers

12/3/2017
Lesson 48, or Podcast 48 is absolutely full of quirky (for english speakers) expressions. Our characters are at the beach discussing how easy it is to get hornswoggled by an unknown auto-mechanic. I guess we were in the mood for podcasting as it is a little longer than usual. Desfrutem! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fplyN5M1b4Q Dialog [zoomsounds_player source="https://portuguesewithcarla.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/pwc48-dialog.mp3" config="audio-quiz" playerid="14642" thumb="" autoplay="off" cue="on" enable_likes="off" enable_views="off" songname="" artistname=""] M - Então Patrícia, afinal de contas aquilo do carro ainda não está resolvido. P - Oh pá!! Arranjámos ali um 31! Já lá vão 3 semanas e nada. M - Bolas! P - Pois. Se fosse só a demora era uma coisa, mas cada vez que o Tiago fala com o homem, parece que ele encontra lá mais um defeito, que é como quem diz, mais uns euros para o bolso dele. M - Espera aí, vocês não foram ao Paulo ali na rua da Ribeira? P - Não, estava de férias. E como tínhamos recebido um panfleto com um desconto para o mecânico na avenida, fomos lá. M - Ui…estou a ver quem é. Nunca fui com a pinta dele! P - Pois, saiu-nos cá um vigarista… Nunca mais! M - Deixa estar. Para a próxima já sabem. Lesson 47 - European Portuguese with an auto mechanic

11/19/2017
Our lesson this week brings us back to colloquial, vernacular European Portuguese. This is your typical conversation with a somewhat dodgy auto-mechanic. A little more free-style dialog than usual because neither I or Marlon took part in it. Can you recall?

Lesson 46 - Learn European Portuguese with music

11/4/2017
Podcast 46 is a little different. In this European Portuguese Lesson we use a popular song to help you learn common verbs and improve your pronunciation. Sing along!

Can you recall?

Lesson 43 - At the hairdressers (part 1)

9/26/2017
We're back with another European Portuguese lesson. And so is Carla's mom. This time Carla goes for a hair cut and we take you through a typical conversation in typical Portuguese hairdressers. This is part 1 of 3. Desfrutem! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1EsNW7Q3bs Dialog [zoomsounds_player source="https://portuguesewithcarla.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/pwc43-dialog.mp3" config="audio-quiz" playerid="14517" thumb="" autoplay="off" cue="on" enable_likes="off" enable_views="off" songname="" artistname=""] C - Olá, bom dia. V - Bom dia, é a dona Susana não é? C - É isso mesmo. V - Olhe, pode se sentar aqui. Então que cor é que quer? C - Olhe, não queria fugir muito do meu tom natural. V - Então deixe-me ir buscar o catálogo. Os tons base são estes. Depois temos os cobres, temos os vermelhos ou os dourados, se quiser reflexos. C - Reflexos dourados parecem-me bem. V - Deixe-me ver se tem muitos cabelos brancos… C - É capaz de encontrar um ou outro… V - …é que se tivesse muitos cabelos brancos tínhamos que meter uma base. Mas como tem poucos, podemos pôr só a cor diretamente. É só escolher. C - Eu estou aqui indecisa entre estes dois. O que é que você acha, qual é que combina melhor com o meu tom de pele…? Lesson 42 - Making a booking at the hairdresser

9/10/2017
Welcome everyone to our European Portuguese lesson 42. This week we start a new conversation as Susana goes to the hairdresser, so a little more formal this time. Look out for the special guest who brings along with her some African spice (by them I mean a different accent). Obrigado a todos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYCmT7CEaFI Dialog [zoomsounds_player source="https://portuguesewithcarla.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/pwc42-dialog.mp3" config="audio-quiz" playerid="14491" thumb="" autoplay="off" cue="on" enable_likes="off" enable_views="off" songname="" artistname=""] C - Boa tarde. V - Boa tarde, diga se faz favor? C - É por marcação ou pode atender já? V - O que é que quer fazer? C - Pintar, cortar as pontas e secar. V - Então para isso, hoje já não tenho hipótese. Mas se quiser vir amanhã… Quando é que lhe dá jeito, de manhã ou à tarde? C - Prefiro de manhã. V - Deixe-me só ver na agenda…então às 10, está bom para si? C - Óptimo. V - Fica em que nome? C - Susana Teixeira. V - Está bem. Está marcado, até amanhã. C - Obrigada, até amanhã. Can you recall?
