Turtle, MD returns with another hour of records from across the American musical tradition. Okay, 53 minutes of records and and 7 minutes' wittering. This month, guitar wizardry from Robert Bromley and Ledward Kaapana, righteous hollerin' from the Chosen Gospel Singers, a pair of old Smokeys and, as it's Christmas, Keith Christmas.

Another 60 minute whistlestop tour of the American musical decades, with occasional and frankly bewildering detours. This week: an injunction to the young from Mr Sad Head, rip-roaring mandolin shenanigans from Rhonda Vincent and Andrew Marlin, the melancholy banjo of Karen Dalton, a double dose of New Orleans piano action and much, much more. Guitar pieces

Doctor Turtle shambles his way though another hour of loosely-defined Americana, this time featuring a double dose of convict blues, uplifting soul courtesy of Irene Reid and Frank Hutton, yet another version of "You Don't Love Me" and arctic twangling from Kadonnut Manner. Wes Tirey takes his turn in Guitarist's Corner, and Papa Lightfoot chips in with the inevitable train song.

Spring is at least considering springing, and Doc T celebrates in time-honoured fashion by sitting in a darkened room and flinging random records at your ears. Ray Charles gives his piano a 2 minute thwacking, Myriam Gendron channels an unusually reflective Dorothy Parker, Tony Joe White strings out a frankly bizarre arachnid metaphor for his recent erotic goings on and Nick Jonah Davis takes a long overdue turn in Guitarist's Corner.

For my first show I’ve chosen a compilation of socially conscious soul from the 60’s & 70’s. All the songs have either political or philosophical messages and where recorded at a time in the U.S where music was an important part of political activism.

Doctor Turtle dips his big spoon into the American musical soup once more and scoops up another hour of blues, gospel, R&B and Smiths covers. Cora Fluker and E C Ball call end-times, Jenks "Tex" Carman serves up a chaotic blend of Texas and Hawaii and Tiny Bradshaw offers the world yet anoher epnoymous boogie.
