Description:

The novel begins in 1907, ends in 1966 and tells the unusual story of a life bound to the sea. As a young woman, Neva must surrender her only child for adoption and later becomes one of the first women to sit for the Bar in 1930's Georgia. It is Neva's fate that brings her son back, and fate that determines she must advocate to save the weak, spoiled barrier island heir who abandoned her years before.
