Ralph took the time, any time he had the time, to stop and cook and enjoy life. It helped him to come down from the tension and time on the road that was always in motion. Cooking, another gift he received from his mother, gave him the peace of mind he needed to slow down and breathe. And in learning his way around the kitchen, he started to bake. hat stayed with him and when he was hanging out with his musician friends, he would have his signature cookies. At first they laughed, but quickly the request became “please bring those cookies with you!” Over time, his cookies found their way into the hands of clients such as Westside Market, Franks Market, and many more. Good Morning America host chose Soul Snacks for her holiday gifting in 2011. In 2015, Bette Midler and Ralph met when Nile Rodgers and Chic were the guest artists and Ms. Midler’s annual Hulaween Charity event. Ralph had his “cookie calling card” with him. Ms. Midler loved Soul Snacks so much that she placed orders for her family and friends. Soon, he was selling his cookies at Melba’s, a legendary soul food restaurant in Harlem. Episode 2681: Sheyann Christburg Webb ~ Martin Luther’s King’s Youngest Marcher Talks of the Importance of Civil Rights NOW!

3/30/2026
Sheyann Webb-Christburg is a civil rights activist and co-author of the book Selma, Lord, Selma. As a nine-year-old, Webb took part in the first attempt at the Selma to Montgomery march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge on March 7, 1965, known as Bloody Sunday, and was known as Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Smallest Freedom Fighter". The beginning of her activism In January 1965, Webb met Dr. King soon after she began attending meetings. Webb states that meeting Dr King was one of the most impactful events of her life; she describes him as "a strong...patient man...one who could talk and deliver, and you could receive his message regardless of how old you were. Bloody Sunday The march from Selma to Montgomery was organized after the death of Jimmie Lee Jackson, a member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) who was beaten and shot during a peaceful march for voting rights in Marion, Alabama. During the meeting held before Bloody Sunday, people talked about the possibilities of how the march would go, and that there was a possibility that the march wouldn't be successfully finished. Webb said that she was scared the morning of the march and that she wasn't prepared to see the things she saw, even after the warnings of the meeting the previous night. At nine years old, marching alongside her teacher, Margaret Moore, Sheyann Webb was among the protesters who were beaten with billy clubs and gassed with tear gas. A fellow demonstrator, Hosea Williams, picked up Webb and rescued her from the violent turn of the protest. She ran home "like [she] was running for [her] life." After the first attempted march, Webb was still determined to return to Brown's Chapel Church, and she was willing to march again. She wrote her funeral arrangements the night of Bloody Sunday. She wrote Selma, Lord, Selma, a 1980 book edited by Frank Sikora, which was adapted into a Disney television movie of the same name and found its way into secondary education textbooks. © 2026 All Rights Reserved © 2026 BuildingAbundantSuccess!! Jimmie Lee Jackson, was a Vietnam veteran, Baptist deacon, activist and martyr of the Civil Rights Movement. Jackson, active in the fight for equal rights, had tried multiple times to register to vote in Alabama and was denied each time. When Jimmie Lee Jackson saw his frail 80-year-old grandfather rudely turned away from the registrar’s office in 1962 after attempting to register to vote in Marion, Ala. He knew he had to join the civil rights movement. On Feb. 18, 1965, he was among more than 200 people participating in a night march in Marion. Before they had walked a block, they were confronted by state troopers and the police chief, who ordered them to disperse. Jackson and his mother huddled for safety in a café. When Jackson’s grandfather entered the café bloodied and beaten, the young man tried to take him to a hospital. But they were quickly shoved back by a crowd of club-swinging troopers and terrified marchers. Another trooper pulled his pistol and shot Jackson in the stomach. It was two hours before Jackson arrived at the hospital in Selma. He died eight days later. At one of two services for Jackson, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told a crowd of 2,000: “Jimmie Lee Jackson’s death says to us that we must work passionately and unrelentingly to make the American dream a reality. I have attended events Remembering the History, People & Sacrifice. The Fight for Justice Continues Today in 2026 as People Help Bring About Change. My Guest this Week was asked to join the Selma March in Alabama in 1965 by Dr. Martin Luther King. His name: Joseph Cooney Esq., then a newly ordained Priest. He also worked with SCLC in the Voters Registration Summers of 1966-67. In 1965, State Troopers Clashed with Citizens marching to Montgomery, Alabama to petition the state for African-American's Right to Vote. Many lives would change in this fight. Some lives both Black & White lost. The March from Selma to Montgomery was inspired by the death of Jimmie Lee Jackson was a civil rights activist in Marion, Alabama, and a deacon in the Baptist church. On February 18, 1965, while participating in a peaceful voting rights march in his city, he was beaten by troopers and shot by Alabama State Trooper John Bonard Fowler Jackson was unarmed and died eight days later in the hospital. His death was part of the inspiration for the Selma to Montgomery marches in March 1965, a major events in the American Civil Rights Movement that helped gain Congressional passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This opened the door to millions of African Americans being able to vote again in Alabama and across the South, regaining participation as citizens in the political system for the first time since the turn of the 20th century, when they were disenfranchised by state constitutions and discriminatory practices. © 2026 Building Abundant Success!! © 2026 All Rights Reserved Join Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBAS Spot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23ba Amazon ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBAS Audacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

Episode 2673: Robert H. Mayer ~ Award-Winning author of "When Children Marched", The Birmingham Movement & "In the Name of Emmett Till" Talks Child Foot Soldiers in History

3/2/2026
Best-Selling Author & Distinguished Carter G. Woodson book award presented to exemplary books written for children and young people each year at the NCSS Annual Conference. My Show looks to the reason for Jubilee Remembrances 61st Anniversary 2026 in the South this Week. I consider it a Privilege to cover the True Foot Soldiers who were physically THERE during the Events that Changed History in American Civil Rights to All. My Guest is author Robert H. Mayer author of the book "In the Name of Emmett Till" Children played a significant role in Birmingham’s crucial civil rights struggle, and this stirring history of the movement, with many photos, news reports, and quotes from all sides, emphasizes the connections between the young people’s power and that of the big leaders. Martin Luther King called Birmingham the most segregated city in America, and his Letter from Birmingham Jail is quoted at length. But when the adults’ protest lost momentum, the leaders’ decision to call on young people galvanized the movement--Hazel Rochman Robert H. Mayer is the award-winning author of When the Children Marched: The Birmingham Civil Rights Movement and the editor of The Civil Rights Act of 1964. As a teacher, Mayer’s passion continues to be making history relevant and accessible to young people. His time spent in Jackson, Canton, and McComb, Mississippi, as well as meeting scholars and activists integral to the civil rights movement, fueled the desire to write In the Name of Emmett Till. He lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with his wife Jan, where he writes, teaches, and tutors youth in a local middle school. The 1955 murder of Emmett Till in Mississippi is widely remembered as one of the most horrible lynching's in American history. African American children old enough that year to be aware personally felt the terror of Till’s murder. These children, however, would rise up against the culture that made Till’s death possible. Over the next decade, from the violent Woolworth’s lunch-counter sit-ins in Jackson to the school walkouts of McComb, the young people of Mississippi picketed, boycotted, organized, spoke out, and marched, determined to reveal the vulnerability of black bodies and the ugly nature of the world they lived in. These children changed that world. Emmett Till Antilynching Act is a United States landmark federal law which makes lynching a federal hate crime and signed into law on March 29, 2022, by President Joe Biden. The bill was named after 14-year-old Emmett Till, who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955, sparking national and international outrage. © 2026 Building Abundant Success!! 2026 All Rights Reserved Join Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBAS Spot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23ba Amazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBAS Audacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

Episode 2671: Rev. Dr. Viola Bradford ~ The Southern Couritier's Youngest Journalist tlaks Importance of Our Voices in Written & Pictorial Mediia

2/24/2026
Viola Bradford started working at The Southern Courier when she was 14. On July 26, she will celebrate the newspaper's 60th anniversary with the culmination of a years-long effort to put a marker at the newspaper's former office on Commerce Street. A group of Harvard University journalism students formed The Southern Courier in 1965 to document the Civil Rights Movement. The newspaper covered Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi and worked to recruit people from the area to report. Bradford's work with the Courier led her to a career in journalism. She earned five degrees, including a doctorate from Howard University. She taught journalism at Alabama State University for about five years. The Southern Courier offered important coverage from 1965 to 1968. “The Southern Courier didn’t just report the news—it disrupted the silence,” said Hardy. “It dared to tell the truth about the South from the people living it. At Alabama Values, we carry that same spirit. We’re a grassroots communications organization, using narrative to tell the stories others try to bury. Honoring the Courier is personal—it reminds us that truth-telling has always been a tool of resistance.” The Southern Courier photo archives—over 10,000 images, including iconic photos of Dr. King—were donated by Peppler to the Alabama Department of Archives and History. The complete newspaper collection is housed at Tuskegee University. About Sankofa Servants, Inc.: Dr. Bradford s Founder of Sankofa Servants, Inc. is a community-driven organization dedicated to preserving cultural history, promoting justice through education, and empowering future generations through service and storytelling. © 2026 All Rights Reserved © 2026 Building Abundant Success!! Episode 2665: Dana Hee ~ Olympic Gold Medalist/TV & Film Actress, Hollywood Stuntwoman, Author Talks Lasting Courage

2/3/2026
Olympic Gold Medalist The world of sports I find fascinating to watch! Years of discipline, conditioning, travel, competitions, etc. all go into building a winning athlete & team. Their stories behind the World Championships, Team M.V.P.'s & Gold are even more so. Can an orphan from an abusive childhood, shuffled from foster home to home, even living on the streets, low self-esteem go on to be a winner in life? It starts with the stories about you have in your mind. You have to see it, speak it, mentor with & surround yourself & your environment to condition YOU for victory! What an eye opener to hear about life after the games from one of my friends Olympic Gold Medalist Dana Hee. She is grateful to God for her victories. Dana may be a familiar face, not only from winning the "Gold" bunot only from winning the "Gold" but from television & movies like Mortal Combat, Charlie's Angels, Lethal Weapon & many more. Dana Lynn Hee is an Olympic Gold Medalist and is currently a Hollywood film and television actress, as well as one of an award winning stuntwomen in the entertainment industry. . She has also doubled for Hollywood's top actresses': Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Gwynneth Paltrow, Renee Russo, and Jennifer Garner. She also a noted writer, lecturer and television color commentator, and has an extensive background as a speaker to Fortune 500 companies. It's an understatement to say that Dana's childhood was hard. The child of divorced, alcoholic parents, she endured abuse, abandonment, and despair. The years of being passed back and forth between an orphanage, suicidal family members, halfway houses, a commune, government shelter, and finally a foster home, took their tole. Dana grew up to be a young woman with little self-esteem or self-confidence, and a huge fear of failure. To her, nothing seemed possible. It was as if the two words, 'I can't' were programmed into her mind, and she struggled to escape a lifelong habit of running from her fears. Dana looked within herself for strength and determined to make a change. Armed with an ounce of courage, and a glimpse of hope, she set out to make a dream of hers come true. Through the agonizing, against-the-odds process of this struggle, she made the transformation from a shy, under-achieving, below-average young woman to an Olympic Gold Medalist with a new sense of self-esteem, and, finally, some hope for the future. Her story of how this happened - and the lessons you can take from it - are enough to inspire the most discouraged soul. But Dana didn't stop there. She started accepting speaking engagements, then graduated to keynote speeches. She shifted from martial arts, to modeling, and then acting, before setting her sights on becoming a top Hollywood stuntwoman in the movie industry. If this sounds easy, it wasn't. To this day, Dana battles self-doubts whose roots extend back to her youth. But she never quits. She competes successfully in the world's most challenging industries. Dana's autobiography, One Step with Courage: The Story of My Life From Olympic Gold Medalist to Hollywood Stuntwoman, was released in May 2020. Taekwondo Life Magazine featured her story and book release in March, 2021, as part of its International Women's Day Celebration ~ DanaHee.com © 2026 All Rights Reserved © 2026 BuildingAbundantSuccess!!
