“No man ever steps in the same river twice—for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” – Heraclitus. After spending a two-year hiatus flying under the radar, I’m back. And yes, for those who were wondering, I am alive. During this season, I’ve gotten uncomfortable and experienced more growth than I ever thought was possible. For past listeners of my previous podcast, The Elite Advisor Blueprint®, thank you for giving me the platform to facilitate some of the most important conversations of my lifetime and the confidence to sacrifice everything in pursuit of something more. For those unfamiliar with my past show or personal journey in finance, this small-town Kansas farm kid has always been grateful for the opportunity I had to learn and work alongside some of the most successful advisors in the country over the past decade and a half. As Jim Rohn states, “You’re the average of the five people you surround yourself with”—and I’ve been fortunate to have been surrounded by the very best. Many of the principles I share have been shaped by these very advisors. As I reflect on my learnings to this point, one specifically stands out. The industry’s definition of “success” for financial advisors is completely broken — and it needs to evolve. Too often I've seen advisors sacrifice their marriages, health, relationships, and everything else that matters to walk across an industry stage recognizing their "success". This show is my attempt to help financial advisors create unlimited growth and freedom in their LIFE and their BUSINESS and do it faster than they ever thought possible. We call this #DBDL or "Doing Business. Doing Life." at Triad Partners. Welcome to the Do Business. Do Life. Podcast for Financial Advisors with Brad Johnson. 3/29/2023
If you want to avoid looking like every other financial advisor on the block, you'll need more than a catchy tagline! Today, I'm talking with my good friend and Founder of The Campfire Effect, Chris Smith, who will teach you how to become the preeminent financial advisor in your market through his identity-driven leadership model. I see so many advisors who are exceptional at what they do but struggle to communicate their unique value proposition to the world. In this episode, Chris will...

004: Triad Member: SHP Financial—Generating $250M of New Assets in a Single Year

3/22/2023
Once per month, we’re going to release a special episode with one of our Triad members that highlights their story and shares the lessons learned from building and scaling an advisory practice. My goal is to have genuine conversations that dig into the good, the bad, and the ugly so that we can help as many other offices out there who are listening in. This week, I’m talking with the co-founders of SHP Financial: Matthew Peck, Derek Gregoire, and Keith Ellis. Last year alone, their team...

003: Mind Your Mindset with Michael Hyatt

3/15/2023
Do you trust the voice in your head? Our minds are powerful storytellers, but the stories our minds feed us as facts aren't always accurate. In fact, neuroscience research has shown that, on average, about 20% of our memories are false. And even crazier, up to 70% are distorted in some way. Unfortunately, these stories can turn into false beliefs that keep you from reaching your true potential. Do any of these stories sound familiar? As an advisor, this type of thinking has a major...

002: The 5 Pillars to Scaling Your Advisory Business with Shawn Sparks

3/15/2023
In our industry, it’s all too common to treat revenue numbers as the ultimate scoreboard. But if that’s your only game plan, not only will your progression hit a ceiling, but burnout is inevitable. Today, I’m sitting down with Shawn Sparks of Triad Partners, to talk about what it means to truly succeed as a financial advisor. Think about it this way… If your numbers are on the rise, but your family is eating dinner without you most nights, is that really how you’d define success? In this...

001: Why I Quit My Job... The Story Behind "Do Business. Do Life."

3/14/2023
"No man ever steps in the same river twice—for it's not the same river, and he's not the same man." – Heraclitus I love that quote (for many reasons), but now more than ever, it holds particular significance in my life. For one, I left a 13-year career with Advisors Excel to go out on my own. It was one of the most challenging decisions of my life. And while I'm beyond grateful for everything that role opened up for me, I realized that I had hit the ceiling in my growth and knew it was...
