Womb Work — The Evolution of Wealth in Sisterhood

3/21/2021
Welcome to episode six of The Jolly Journey podcast! In this episode, I discuss the power of sisterhood and the roadblocks to creating wealth your way. In my research, I found specific ways in which black men and women navigate different relationships with money. These different relationships result, not different outcomes, but in different pursuits towards the same outcomes. Women, it's imperative that you build a better relationship with money, to define wealth for yourself. Doing so changes the road you navigate to wealth for yourself and anyone and everyone you chose to journey this life with. The first roadblock, I found that we as black women must take time to heal. About 71% of the financial decisions are made by black women in the black community. Oftentimes, black women take care of not just their own selves and their own stories. But they connect the dots between the legacy they inherit by taking care of their parents and their grandparents, as well as their children and their grandchildren. Now in my research, I found that it takes three generations to build legacy wealth, but only one generation to lose it. When four generations remain connected, the wealth will begin to turn. Taking time to heal from the realities that we inherited as black women, given the role of birthing economies, for generation after generation after generation, is something that the evolution of sisterhood must make as a mandate. We must heal ourselves from the hurts of the journey that we have inherited ——————————- The second roadblock that I'm choosing to share with you today are the lines that divide us. There are 5 lines that we must come together to close. We all have lines within our enclaves and our networks. The lines within our circles of sisterhood are ones in which I pray, we start to unite across. The first line that we must find a way to unite across is the socio-economic line. The second line that we must find a way to unite across is the color line. The third line that I'd like us to unite across is the generational line. The next line I found was geographic; North, South, East, and West. The last dividing line that I'll share with you that I want us to cross is this inherited distance from the business around our hard work. Let's together pave those roads with a business model that elevates our standard of getting things done to a seat at the equity table. What I am saying is let's put a business model around our inherited ability to get impossible things done. Let's move the definition of winning beyond being able to afford the dinner at the hotel we do not own to a shareholder relationship with establishments that desire to do business with us, not just for us. I shared with you before there were five roadblocks and I shared with you just now the two, one is the ability for us to take time to heal from the inherited traumas, and the ability for us to unite across the lines that divide the road that we navigate to build wealth as we define it Listen on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and TuneIn! Get Clear: What Comes Next- Own a Perspective

6/25/2020
Get Clear: Own Your Position on the Road to Next Point #1: Get Clear on your Perspective — Align with your Elders Building on the first lesson of perspective and how there are four dimensions of vision, take some time to learn from those who have traveled this journey longer than you. Commit to speaking with elders to learn their perspective of what comes next. Point #2: Get Clear — Understand what comes after the win So much has happened in this month, many great things are beginning to take root. Leaders are taking a stand for things our ancestors could only pray for. Know that after the win the real work begins, the pace slows and the progress requires effort. What is your role in this new chapter we are beginning? Take time to get clear on what next and your role in it. Point #3: Get Clear - Feel the Pressure and Use it for our good. Take some time to take in all that has happened this month, and feel it, recognize that while feelings aren't facts they are indicators and they can be fuel for what comes next. Use it to get in position for what comes next. Point #4: Get Clear: Your responsibility to Save the Union Saving the union means saving the business of whatever matters for you. What is your role and responsibility to keep things together in what comes next? Get Clear, get in position, and be about your business. Point #5: Get Clear - Reset Juneteenth When I look at the statistics many, like those 250,000 slaves of Juneteenth were invited a little late to the Wealth Creation party. Know that a delay is not denial; follow the lead of what came 8 years after the Juneteenth Memo in 1872. This part of our Legacy reveals what always comes next — a group of like-minded and spirited people chooses to pool their capital together to fund what's important for the advancement of freedom. Work with your friends and family, pool capital, and own your position in what comes next, follow the Juneteenth lead, and reset it your way. Enjoy the journey! Saving the Union, Are YOU Committed?

6/17/2020
What union are you saving? What if wealth were a model and you and your family over the last 400 years have been building yours? What if each generation worked as hard as they could to navigate the ebbs and flows of life to ensure that your family would do better than the generation before it. What if this family business, this union across time, talent, and the treasure was the most important thing worth saving, would you continue that legacy? What would you commit to doing to ensuring that cross-generational union? A business is a series of increasingly intimate relationships that create, build, grow, and expand wealth. A business starts with an asset, packaged into a product that is taken to the market and upon the first sale, the relationship with creating, building, growing, and expanding a union of time and value creation begins. In this way, anyone or anything that exchanges value in any way is in essence a business. A business when it is in the black is profitable. Brookings Institute's study notes a 100-year gap in economic mobility between whites and blacks in the United States Post Slavery. The century-long gap is attributed to intergenerational immobility among black families. Gains made in one generation are often lost in the next. How focused are you on saving the union? If the times we are navigating currently are the road to a win, are you willing to keep us united? Podcast Title: Are We There Yet? This week's #Reset Juneteenth Series Podcast #3 is all about Preserving the Union. So much is happening in our world that impacts all of us both the present and our future. What Union are you committed to saving? Together let’s explore the hidden equity in the Juneteenth Narrative related to our union. To #GetClear we will connect the gots between the legacies of President Lincoln and Charles Hamilton Houston to determine what do to about saving the Union. Getting Clear this week, is all about determining What Union are you Saving? About the NarrowRoad™ The NarrowRoad™ is a meta-pattern, which is a pattern of patterns about faith, finance, legacy, business, and the many things that reside in between. About the June Reset: A #RESET is a time to reflect on ways to “do things differently” to navigate a road many have traveled from your unique perspective capitalizing on the inherited opportunities of the time you have been given to do so. The June #Reset is all about resetting our vision for the future post the 400 years journey we have just ended. Notes about this week's podcast: 1. The Union is the business model of America of which you are an inherited heir to its legacy of wealth opportunities. 2. Saving the Union is all about ensuring the business within the business within the business of America remains connected. Meaning the business of you remains united with the business of us remains united with the business of our nation. 3. Anyone and everyone with a financial statement is in business yet few people really take the time to view both their lives and their legacies in this way. 4. A business is a series of increasingly intimate relationships that create, build, grow, and expand value over time. 5. Saving the Union requires resisting the pressure that comes from the opinions and ideas that can distract you from the business within a business within a business. Are We There Yet, What Pressure Are You Feeling?

6/11/2020
Podcast Title: Are We There Yet? This week's #Reset Juneteenth Series Podcast #2 is all about Pressure. So much is happening in our world that impacts all of us both the present and our future, do you feel the pressure of the promise? Are we headed in the direction you desire to go? Together let’s explore the hidden equity in the Juneteenth Narrative related to pressure and influence. To #getClear we will connect the gots between the legacies of Horace Greeley and Dr. Martin Luther King to determine what do to about the pressure we are feeling. Getting Clear this week, is all about determining what will you do with the pressure you are feeling? About the NarrowRoad™ The NarrowRoad™ is a meta-pattern, which is a pattern of patterns about faith, finance, legacy, business, and the many things that reside in between. Explored through frameworks, journeyers are guided on culturally relevant ways to define and pursue wealth their way. Click here to buy the book. Framework Built upon in this Podcast: Vision-ThoughtReset This week we build upon the NarrowRoad™ Vision Framework adding a layer that includes pressure, the continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it. This is a new generation facing the same battle. What is different is that we are closer to a bigger win we have been waiting for. If you recall from last week's podcast there are both dimensions of vision and a time for everything. Is your vision clear for what time your pressure is cooking? Is it a tactical practical call to action?Or is it a call for plans and strategiesIs it a message that calls us together for change we believe in or is a longer-term view of the horizon — most of these investments are allocated for a 10 year period. Does your protest have a plan that can go the distance? Will your pressure be consistent throughout the journey to next. This is the pressure I would like to contribute to the mix. Framework Reflection to Consider Ways to #GetClear QUESTION: Are you riding the wave Or the tide?QUESTION: Where is your pressure coming from?QUESTION: Where are you frustrated. Part of the pressure and the plan is in you. Where is your influence? What will be the impact of your protest? Question about what time it is. As we reflect back 400 years, I want you to THINK about what the pressure you are feeling is telling you where to focus on what’s next. The Bigger Picture

12/5/2019
Welcome to episode four of The Jolly Journey podcast! In this episode, I shift the focus of the bigger picture to you and your vision. You must build wealth for yourself, and to do this, you must understand business. How do I define wealth? It is a journey of a series of financial decisions that build, grow, and expand overtime. The Bigger Picture - Part 1

11/21/2019
SUMMARY Throughout my 15 year journey as an entrepreneur, I’ve witnessed and experienced so many different things, but I’ve found one thing that is missing; it is an inter-cross-generational connectedness around faith, finance, money, and wealth I’m here to connect the dots. In this episode, I talk about the “bigger picture” as it relates to the NarrowRoad™. I describe the bigger picture as your wealth identity, which is the beginning of your narrative. The Difference Between Story and Narrative

11/8/2019
SUMMARY Welcome episode 2 of The Jolly Journey podcast. If you have not listened to Episode 1, I highly encourage you to listen. In this episode, I explain the difference between a story and a narrative. Everyone has a story, a beginning, middle, and end. But, a narrative is different from a story because it did not begin with you and it will not end with you. If you choose to, your narrative can become an inherited one, so at the end of your life, you can pass the torch to the next generation. Stories reveal a lot about us, but once you define your narrative, it connects to three generations and it takes three generations to build legacy wealth. A narrative helps you put things in a proper perspective. A proper perspective that stands despite what you see and hear all around you in the world. It helps you understand that your legacy is a model that will influence other people’s stories and narratives. I am excited for you to learn why owning your own narrative is so important. Welcome to the Jolly Journey

10/23/2019
SUMMARY Welcome to the Jolly Journey podcast! I am honored to invite you to the newest chapter of my journey. You might be surprised to hear that the Jolly Journey started when I was a young child. I had a dream that I would do something big and significant, and impact the world, and I held on to that dream tightly until I attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Before starting classes, my mother’s prayer group prayed for me and a woman I’d never met before began confirming everything I saw in that dream. That’s what I got a revelation that changed the trajectory of my career: I wasn’t just going to Wharton for myself, I was going to explore the possibilities of how I could impact my community. Two courses in my studies were the catalysts that brought the Jolly Journey to life. And here I am now bringing you this podcast that will give you the tools of the Jolly Journey. You learn what you need to negotiate a better relationship with yourself, so you can live a fuller, more fulfilled life. I define a fulfilled life as wealth. I’m an entrepreneur and the work I do is centered around legacy wealth; this is the type of wealth that can pass on for generations. To pursue this, you must be open to personal change and have a will to develop a business perspective of legacy. So I invite you to join me and people I’ve met along the Jolly Journey so we can continue the pursuit of wealth. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Google Play!
