Martine Speaks

Martine runs some errands while battling some road rage, gets her hipster on with the art of making lattes and sourdough bread at home, describes the Covid-19 time as a "waiting game," tries to drink less wine, stresses the importance of diverse representation, and is absolutely impressed with the movies Hamilton, The Old Guard, and the British series Poirot, but don't get her started on all the streaming subscriptions!

Martine checks in during the protests following the death of George Floyd, sending out her sympathies and support to all during this and the continued Corona lockdowns, and how it's crucial to be kinder to one another during times like these. She keeps a positive outlook, believes in change for the better and appreciates masks as a new fashion statement.

After having a show cancelled in San Diego, Martine weighs in on how she is coping with quarantine and getting around during Covid-19: the uncertainty, the social distancing and ever-incapable LA drivers. She's keeping up with yoga over zoom, and is heartened by the online content creation enabling people to see performances they may not have been able to see otherwise, and she assures us that we remain in this together.

Martine wishes all a happy and fun-filled 2020! She is trying to get back in shape after spending the holidays in SF, enjoyed the new Star Wars movie and TV series (Baby Yoda - so adorable!), highly recommends the late Carrie Fisher's audiobook "The Princess Diarist", and is less than impressed by the wait service at Soho House.

The Silicon Valley episode! After spending a lovely American Thanksgiving in the Bay Area, Martine weighs in on the famous Theranos scandal after listening to the audiobook "Bad Blood" while driving through the Silicon Valley, draws parallels between the lure of SV to that of Hollywood, samples some excellent hummus, enjoys the series finale of Silicon Valley the TV show [no spoilers!], bakes a tarte au sucre and is excited to see her name appear as guest star on a network television show.

Martine having had a lovely time visiting museums in Toronto, is now happily back in LA, but comes home to an infuriating surprise - her car has mysteriously gone missing and she embarks on a complicated rescue mission to find it!

Martine drives back from Ottawa/Gatineau after attending a ceremony honouring her old martial arts teacher, watches the big UFC fight, enjoys beers and a poutine in an Ontario bar, hates on dubstep and slow drivers, and looks forward to her trip to Toronto.

Martine catches a cold, continues to have a successful tv shoot, and explores the hidden gems of Montreal - experiencing infrared laser beams at the yoga sauna, buying a pair of jeans from the legendary store "Jeans Jeans Jeans", and encountering the elusive and best kept secret artisanal vendor Montreal Soap Man.

Martine talks about the challenges of filming night shoots, on living a “vampire life”, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and has fun kicking up autumn leaves in beautiful Montreal while on the hunt for third wave lattes.

Martine is loving the cold and autumnal weather of Montreal, looking forward to a week of filming but is trying to make sure she doesn't fall sick. She enjoys saying "bonjour" to people on the street, walking past random buddhist temples and weighs in on Greta Thunberg's climate change visit.

Martine comes to you live riding on a Bixi city-bike, excited to be back in her home town of Montreal while filming, jaywalking and getting filled with local road rage, all on her happy birthday.

Martine pulls something in her back in yoga class making her no longer an ambi-turner, attends the exciting Saturn Awards, hob-nobs with the who's who of sci-fi/horror, girl-crushes on Gina Torres, and weighs in on the challenges of having new outfits for every red carpet, and dealing with road rage without the benefit of coffee.

Martine revisits beautiful San Diego for a callback audition where she and can see Mexico in the distance, enjoys Balboa Park, the Pageant of the Masters concert in Laguna Beach, though not so much the local art market, and is very taken with her doppelgänger-in-voice Kate Mulgrew's audiobook "Born With Teeth."

Martine takes the train to San Diego Comic-Con, enjoys a weekend appreciating people from all walks of life, the importance of having a community to fit into, meeting many, many stars including a very special one in an elevator, and has a nice Hollywood moment of her own. #SDCC2019
