How to Improve Your Productivity Using the Four Tendencies

10/30/2023
Assessments like Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendencies are the key to living a happier, more productive life. That's because these types of assessments allow us to become more self-aware, letting us evaluate who we are and what we do, manage our emotions, align our behavior, and understand how others perceive us. Self-awareness also leads to finding self-acceptance, nurturing self-compassion, becoming clear on our limits and boundaries, and, as such, improving our productivity. This week, episode 181 of the Positively Living Podcast is about how to improve your productivity using the Four Tendencies! In this episode, I’m sharing how you can use the Four Tendencies Assessment to better understand why you do (or don’t do) something and how unlocking this understanding can help you with self-mastery, influencing others to do things, reduce frustration and even improve relationships when you better understand yourself and others. I cover the following topics: Keep in mind that no assessment is foolproof and many aspects of your character come into play when you determine how you work best. The Four Tendencies Assessment is a jumping-off point that is especially good for helping you take action in a way that suits you best. Thank you for listening! A Surprisingly Effective Alternative to Multi-tasking

9/25/2023
Multi-tasking is the idea of doing two things at once and it’s a myth because you can’t actually focus on two things at once. Now before you tell me everything you’ve done at the same time and how it’s on your resume because your boss required it, so it must be true…hear me out. This week, episode 176 of the Positively Living Podcast is about a surprisingly effective alternative to multitasking! What we consider to be multitasking is really “task switching.” And you might be brilliant at it. And many employers expect it regularly, which irks me, but it’s not a battle I can fight now. With task switching, your brain shifts from one kind of focus to another, and if you have strong executive brain functions, you can do it in such a way that it seems simultaneous. However, even if you’re quite amazing at it, frequent task-switching is inherently problematic. I discuss: Strategic task combining is not a foolproof technique, but it is still far superior to task switching. Thank you for listening! Why Multi-Passionate Creatives Need a Unique Productivity Strategy

9/11/2023
In a society that celebrates and elevates specialization and single-minded dedication, multi-passionate creatives can feel out of place, but in reality, they stand out. Their unique blend of talents and interests makes them some of the most creative and innovative people and potentially the busiest. Unfortunately, traditional productivity approaches tend to be singular and linear, which isn’t a good fit for us. How, then, can multi-passionates honor their passions, achieve their goals, and avoid burnout when the approaches offered don’t apply to them? This week, episode 174 of the Positively Living Podcast explains why multi-passionate creatives need a unique productivity strategy! I discuss: When you’re a multi-passionate, you possess a wealth of creativity and innovation. Why the Simple Act of Pausing Will Make You More Productive

8/28/2023
In today's hustle-happy world, productivity too often looks like constant action, which too often results in being busy versus productive. There’s a feeling that we “can’t stop, won’t stop,” and honestly, we don’t dare stop because if we do, we’ll miss out or not make the cut. Please don’t believe it. There is a better way to do it. This week, episode 172 of the Positively Living Podcast discusses why pausing will make you more productive! Freedom to Quit When Something No Longer Serves You with Paula Lesso

7/24/2023
Quitting tends to be negatively associated with failure. It’s easy to think that we have failed somehow if we decide to quit. That’s not necessarily true, though. When done purposefully, quitting frees us up to have the time and space for the things that light us up. This week, episode 167 of the Positively Living Podcast is about deliberately quitting something (or someone) when it no longer serves us! In this episode of the Positively Living Podcast, Paula Lesso and I are sharing about how to free yourself from things that are holding you back and how sometimes that might look like quitting. We also discuss how to look into your heart, head, and health to determine if it’s time for you to quit something. Paula Lesso and I discuss: The key is neither to quit nor not quit. Instead, you need to understand what’s best for you and honor that in your actions. If you need to, feel free to think of quitting as a form of decluttering because, even though I didn’t mention it in our conversation, you know I was thinking it! The Productivity Hack Myth: Why They Don’t Work and What Does

7/17/2023
Have you ever tried a ‘productivity hack’ only to realize it didn’t work for you? Productivity hacks are often shared as a way to get more done in less time. But they don't actually work because they tend to assume that every single person is the same. As multi-passionates, we know for a fact that it’s true. What works for your friend may not work for you, and vice versa. This week, episode 166 of the Positively Living Podcast is about The Productivity Hack Myth: Why They Don’t Work and What Does! In this episode of the Positively Living Podcast, I share the biggest issues with productivity hacks, the worst hacks on those lists (and how they do more harm than good), and a way to find what feels aligned with how you work best. I also review what to do instead, which includes the following: Productivity done right may take time and effort initially but helps you in the long run. I encourage you to keep learning how you work best. Thank you for listening! If you enjoyed this episode, take a screenshot of the episode to post in your stories and tag me!
