Trauma in The Pews: What If They Don't Come Back Like We Thought They Would | Rev. Dr. Ebony Only

3/4/2022
I'm Clarence E. Stowers, Jr., the host of The Clarence Stowers Leadership Podcast, a podcast about becoming 1% better every day. This podcast focuses on inspiring and equipping highly motivated and creative people to take decisive action to level up in all aspects of their lives while also producing their best work. There's Trauma in The Pews The greatest lesson I learned while pastoring during this pandemic is trauma in the pews, and most pastors (including me) aren't prepared to deal with it. Too many churches are focused on just getting folks back in the building and ignoring the trauma all have faced, to various degrees, during the pandemic. Unless that changes, the church will be weaker and unable to fulfill its mission of creating disciples. The good news is that the people outside the walls face the same trauma and need what only the Christian church offers. Meet Rev. Dr. Ebony Only The Rev. Dr. Ebony D. Only serves as Executive Pastor at First Baptist Church of University Park in University Park, Illinois, and is the Inaugural Community Chaplain Fellow for Bishop Anderson House on Chicago's Near West Side. Answering the call to assist in the practical development of pastors, para-church leaders, and members, Ebony founded Only One Consulting, an organization devoted to nurturing church and not-for-profit leaders to operate at their maximum capacity. Rev. Dr. Ebony Only received her Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Her dissertation titled: Self-Care – A Practical Intervention for the Solo Pastor is the basis for much of her ministry. Connect with Rev. What If They Don't Come Back Like We Thought - Pastor Kervance Ross

2/24/2022
Welcome back to The Clarence Stowers Leadership Podcast, a podcast about becoming 1% better every day. This podcast focuses on inspiring and equipping highly motivated and creative people to take decisive action to level up in all aspects of their lives while also producing their best work. This week's Episode: What If They Don't Come Back Like We Thought They Would, features Pastor Kervance Ross. First, I'm interviewing thought leaders regarding the church's lifecycle, chart its decline (pre-Covid), how Covid accelerated change and forced us online, and what's next on the horizon. Next, we will converse about measuring church online and hybrid church metrics. Additionally, I'd like to drill down on why views are not what we should solely measure. Finally, we will end our interview by focusing on what's next for the church and how pastors & church leaders can plan. The goal is for the listener to walk away with a few "next steps" regardless of where their ministry is right now. Meet Pastor Kervance D. Ross Impactful, Cutting-Edge, Driven, and Revolutionary are only a few words used to describe Kervance D. Ross vividly. This accomplished ministry leader, purpose pioneer, author, mainstream coach, and marketplace master inspires thousands of people worldwide. His presentation style, background, and leadership skills blend harmoniously to distinguish, in any arena, this visionary, business-minded powerhouse. Meshing the Marketplace, Ministry, and the Mainstream, Kervance burst onto the national scene over a decade ago with his initial bestselling book, How to Change the Mind of the Mediocre Man…Five Keys to Move From Good to Amazing. This book serves as an in-depth journey into the mind and actions of the "curse called average" in 21st-century men. In January 2020, he was prophetically named the Pastor of Internet & Innovation at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga. Such an appointment occurred right before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the next move of the church to the digital space. This situated Kervance as a global leader in online church and futurism, spaces in which his enormous influence is only sure to grow. He has earned his undergraduate from Alabama A&M University and master's degree from the University of Phoenix in marketing from an educational perspective. He is now a doctoral candidate, passionately pursuing his Ph.D. in leadership and organizational change. Kervance is also receiving rave reviews to release his second book, Leadership for Life, and his newest literary jewel, The Business in the Bible. The Theology of Technology

1/14/2022
Welcome back to The Clarence Stowers Leadership Podcast, a podcast about becoming 1% better every day. This podcast focuses on inspiring and equipping highly motivated and creative people to take decisive action to level up in all aspects of their lives while also producing their best work. This Week's Episode: The Theology of Technology Honestly, I do not understand why most pastors and church leaders do not leverage technology for the Glory of God. Pastors, church leaders, and faithful church attendees who see social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tock, Twitter, and LinkedIn as evil miss an excellent opportunity to reach people far from God. Are you sitting? Here's something that'll blow your mind. Christianity was, in an authentic sense, the first technologically driven religion. Are you Intrigued? Angry? Frustrated? Galilee, Bethlehem, and the rest of Palestine were part of a Roman world whose technological underpinnings had reached a level by Jesus' day that was not to be surpassed until the 19th Century. Those roads that The Apostle Paul and his associates traveled to spread the faith were unprecedented engineering marvels. Without the ingeniously constructed roads that led from the streets where Jesus had walked to the cities of Syria and Greece, Christianity might have remained another obscure Judean sect-like those that fill the pages in accounts by the Jewish historian Josephus. The roads were technological marvels – the ORIGINAL information super-highway! What's The Point? If Jesus, His Disciples, or The Apostle Paul were here today, they'd all use Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tock, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media sites to reach people for God! Pastors & church leaders, if you're not using Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tock, Twitter, and LinkedIn, or any other form of social media, you're missing a God-sized & ordained opportunity to reach people for God. [BONUS EPISODE] Should I Follow My Head or My Heart: 5 Questions to Ask Before Making Decisions

12/15/2021
Welcome back to The Clarence Stowers Leadership Podcast, a podcast about becoming 1% better every day. This podcast focuses on inspiring and equipping highly motivated and creative people to take decisive action to level up in all aspects of their lives while also producing their best work. This week's Episode: Should I Follow My Head or My Heart: 5 Questions to Ask Before Making Decisions You can read more about this episode on my website. According to Mel Robbins, here are five questions to ask when making decisions. 5 Questions to Ask When Making Decisions Remember, there's always a short-term and a long-term impact of the decision. When making a decision, it's essential to think about its short-term and long-term impacts. The short-term consequences are the things that happen immediately after the decision. The long-term effects are the things that happen down the road, sometimes many years after the decision is made. It's essential to think about both of these impacts when deciding because they can be very different. The short-term effect might be exciting or seem like a good idea at the time, but the long-term implications might be very different. It's crucial to weigh all of the pros and cons of a decision before making it, so you can be sure that you're making the right choice. Do you agree or disagree? I'd love to hear how you make decisions? The Overlooked Leader: Overlooked by Others. Handpicked by God - Part 1 with Dr. Christopher Dodd

11/13/2021
Hello everyone, I'm Clarence E. Stowers, Jr., The host of The Clarence Stowers Leadership Podcast, a podcast about becoming 1% better every day. Many of us are overlooked by society. We're not famous, we don't have many followers on social media, and people seem to be constantly judging our work. The question is: do you care? Do you know that God has handpicked you for your life's purpose, and He wants the world to see His light through YOU? It's time to stop worrying about what everyone else thinks and start focusing on who YOU were made to be! "We are all leaders. Whether we lead a department at work, manage our household, or serve in church leadership positions, the responsibility of leading is on us." "It's not about how many followers you have on social media. It's not about the size of your following on Twitter. It's not even about what some people might call "celebrity." You can be an influencer without being famous." Leadership is more than just one person taking charge and telling everyone else what to do. Leadership is when someone stands up for themselves and stands up for others who cannot speak out against injustices that have been done to them. To his older siblings, David was a nuisance. To his father, Jesse, he was simply the youngest son. He was just a shepherd kid to everyone else. But to God, David was the one destined to be king. And not just any king; he was from the bloodline that would produce Jesus. Overlooked by everyone else. But God picked him. Even how David was anointed as king is significant. God informs Samuel that He has discarded Saul as king and chosen one of Jesse's descendants to be the new ruler in 1 Samuel 16. Today's Guest: Rev. Dr. Christopher Dodd Born and raised in Chicago, Rev. Dr. Christopher E. Dodd is the son of Doshia and E.C. Dodd.
