163. Are You Stuck in Creator Mode When Your Business Needs a CEO?

10/7/2025
Send us a text! (Your number stays private) Have you ever poured your heart into cranking out product after product, only to watch your sales drop instead of soar? I’ve been there, and it turns out, I was stuck in what I call “creator mode.” In this episode, I’m sharing how I learned (the hard way) that sometimes what your business really needs isn’t another new thing to sell, but for you to step up and put on your CEO hat! Trust me, getting out of my comfort zone as a creator and actually leading my business has made all the difference, and I’m breaking down exactly why. We’ll dive into what creator mode really looks like for digital product sellers. Think dreaming up new ideas, designing, tweaking, and all the fun stuff we love. But then there’s CEO mode, which, let’s be honest, probably feels a lot less exciting: reviewing data, analyzing your numbers, and making strategic decisions that actually move your business forward. I’ll talk you through the big mindset shift I had to make, and why hustling in creator mode without direction can leave you feeling burned out and discouraged, even if you’re busy every single day. Most importantly, I’ll walk you through the practical systems I use now, like my monthly CEO days and simple time blocking tricks, to make sure I’m not just creating into the void. You’ll hear why both roles matter, how to balance them, and some gentle but firm encouragement to look at your own calendar. If you haven’t given yourself CEO time lately, this is your nudge to finally make it happen. Your business, and your sanity, will thank you! 00:18 – The danger of staying stuck in creator mode 01:42 – What creator mode actually looks like 03:18 – Why CEO mode matters for business growth 06:21 – How I use time blocking for CEO and creator tasks 08:40 – Simple steps to start your monthly and weekly CEO habit Links & Resources: Episode 161, I Said Yes When My Gut Said NoFollow me on Instagram @kristendoyle.co Check out my Everything Page: a one-stop shop for savvy selling! The Savvy Seller CollectiveJoin my private Facebook community: Savvy Teacher SellersMore resources for growing your TPT businessRate & review The Savvy Teacher Seller on Apple PodcastsShow Notes: https://kristendoyle.co/episode163 Feeling overwhelmed by all the things you think you need to do to grow your digital product business? 157. Are You Making These Expensive AI Mistakes?

7/22/2025
Send us a text! (Your number stays private) AI is everywhere these days, and while it can be an amazing tool, it's also becoming a minefield of costly AI mistakes for business owners. In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on some of the most common missteps I’m seeing digital product sellers make when using AI. From letting AI tools write your legal policies (please don’t!) to blindly trusting AI-generated website code, these mistakes might seem small but can lead to big problems with your credibility, performance, or even legal compliance. I walk you through why you should never use AI for things like privacy policies or contracts, and why AI code (though convenient) can easily break your site if you don’t fully understand what it’s doing. I even share a behind-the-scenes example of how my own excitement about an AI-built automation backfired. The bottom line? If you’re not double-checking AI’s output or editing it to reflect your actual brand voice, you could be hurting your business more than helping it. This episode isn’t anti-AI - far from it! I use it all the time. But we need to be savvy about how we’re using it. So if you’ve been tempted to copy-paste AI copy, take its “facts” at face value, or let it take the reins on your tech without oversight, this is your nudge to pause and rethink your approach. Tune in to hear what to avoid today, and come back next week for the creative, strategic ways I do recommend using AI in your business. 01:24 - Using AI for legal content like privacy policies or contracts 04:00 - Letting AI generate website code without understanding it 06:52 - Trusting AI-generated “facts” without verifying 08:34 - Copy-pasting AI-generated copy without editing for brand voice Links & Resources: TermageddonWordPress Care PlanEpisode 148, The 15-Minute Weekly Plan: How AI Helped Me Stop Wasting My Best Brain HoursFollow me on Instagram @kristendoyle.co Check out my Everything Page: a one-stop shop for savvy selling! The Savvy Seller CollectiveJoin my private Facebook community: Savvy Teacher SellersMore resources for growing your TPT businessRate & review The Savvy Teacher Seller on Apple PodcastsShow Notes: https://kristendoyle.co/episode157 Tired of constantly hustling to sell your digital products? Kate isn’t here for hustle culture or the pressure to post daily. Instead, she brings a refreshingly compassionate perspective—one that treats social media more like a casual kitchen party than a constant performance. Her signature “Candy Crush rule” helped me reframe the algorithm not as a judge, but as just a system. What really matters is showing up with intention, on your own terms. In a world where AI-generated everything is the norm, Kate reminds us that being real is actually our greatest asset. She shares powerful stories of entrepreneurs who built trust and connection by showing up as their imperfect selves—moldy fridges and all. If social media has ever made you doubt yourself, this episode will help you see it as a tool for connection, not perfection! 03:30 - Overcoming feelings of social media anxiety 11:10 - What is the candy crush rule for social media success? 16:49 - Vanity metrics don’t equal business success (and what we SHOULD be focusing on instead) 21:46 - Social media as an important touchpoint, even for introverts 24:51 - Authenticity trumps perfection in our current low-trust environment Links & Resources: Follow me on Instagram @kristendoyle.coKate's Free "YIKES! 154. 3 Trends I'm Noticing in Online Business Right Now

7/1/2025
Send us a text! (Your number stays private) Something feels off in the online business world lately, doesn’t it? If your go-to strategies aren’t landing like they used to, there’s a reason why. In this episode, I’m sharing three major trends I’ve been noticing in my business, with my clients, and across the digital space. These shifts could explain why things feel harder right now, and I’ll walk you through how to respond in ways that feel aligned and effective. We’ll talk about why perfectly polished content is falling flat and how being more human and relatable can actually drive better results. I also break down the growing need for more customer touch points before a sale happens, and why that’s not necessarily a bad thing. And finally, I share why simplicity is the new secret weapon in your offers and marketing—and how I’m applying that in my own work. If you’re ready to adapt and thrive, this episode will help you do just that! 01:28 - Trend 1: Authentic (and often messy), human-sounding content is converting better 04:29 - Trend 2: People need more touch points to convert 06:11 - Trend 3: People want simplicity over complex strategies 08:26 - 3 action steps to help you implement these trends this week Links & Resources: Interested in Homepage Express? 153. What Nobody Tells You About Sales Funnels

6/24/2025
Send us a text! (Your number stays private) Do you view sales funnels as some kind of sleazy marketing trap, or think they’re way too complicated to even attempt? That’s exactly why I recorded this episode. I’m breaking down what nobody tells you about sales funnels: that they can actually be simple, ethical, and—dare I say it—kind of fun to build. I share how to create a values-aligned funnel using tools like Kit and Elementor, without relying on fake urgency or manipulative tactics. With practical tips on lead magnets, landing pages, and email sequences that serve, you’ll walk away feeling confident and ready to build a funnel that actually works! 02:27 - What a sales funnel actually is, and examples of what an effective (and simple) one looks like 07:32 - Ethical vs. unethical sales funnel tactics 09:51 - Four essential things you need for creating a sales funnel that converts 13:47 - What you should sell in your sales funnel and why 15:22 - Specific action steps for creating your first sales funnel Links & Resources: The Savvy Funnel Starter KitKit - affiliate linkElementor - affiliate linkThriveCart - affiliate linkEpisode 72, What is a Funnel?
