Current Year: 2381 – 6 years after the Dominion War. Defender departs from DS9 following the end of the Dominion war. She is called from Earth to assist in the exploration of the Gamma Quadrant via the wormhole, since the Dominion withdrew military forces and through the diplomatic work from Odo, the federation has been given freedom to explore, expand and settle within the quadrant.
