12/19/2023
Greetings Podcast Listeners and welcome back to a new episode of History: From One Student to Another. The French Revolution: The Transition from an Absolute Monarchy to a Constitutional Monarchy

12/12/2023
Greetings Podcast listeners! After a long, unanticipated break, welcome back to a new episode of my Podcast! The upcoming episodes of my Podcast symbolise a new era for the Podcast— I will be shying away from focusing on the Cambridge GCSE and AS/A-Level curriculums as I am now studying at University! Instead, these episodes will look at a wider range of topics and events that have taken place throughout History. The French Revolution was a decisive point in History, often cited as being the beginning of the global Age of Revolutions. In France, revolution saw the end of King Louis XVI’s absolute rule, with his execution. It paved the way for democracy, republicanism, and nationalism– but France was forced to endure a horrific Reign of Terror from 1793–94 and the revolution did not end there... How did the British prepare for the Second World War?

11/29/2022
Greetings Podcast listeners! Welcome back to a new episode of Britain in 1919–1939. In this episode, we will be looking at how the British prepared for the Second World War. After a relatively peaceful 1920s, the prospect of a second world war began to show itself in the 1930s. With conflict spouting from the rules of Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, countries tried their best to avoid another costly war. Aside from a policy of non-involvement in the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939, Britain and France embarked on a policy of appeasement in the 1930s. Thank you for listening to this episode of History: From One Student to Another. I may be releasing more episodes for this series, but I can confirm there will be no new episodes in the month of December and at least the first week of January as the Podcast will be on a Christmas and New Year break. The National Government and its response to the Great Depression in 1930s Britain

11/15/2022
The period of time between 1929 and 1939 is sometimes referred to as ‘The Devil’s Decade’. Aside from the rise in extremism that took place during the decade, and the commencement of the Second World War, the beginning of the decade is marred by the Great Depression as the Wall Street Stock Market crashed following the post-war industrial boom of the iron and steel, construction, automobile and retail industries in ‘The Roaring Twenties’. In this episode on Britain from 1929 to 1939, I will be looking at the National Government and its response to the Great Depression in 1930s Britain. The Treatment of Ethnic Minorities in the Soviet Union

8/16/2022
While the Soviet Union’s leaders and authorities officially condemned nationalism and proclaimed internationalism, including their support of self-determination, in actual truth, many ethnic groups within the Soviet Union were treated horrendously. While the founder of Soviet Russia, Vladimir Lenin, had implemented a policy of korenization, which meant the integration of non-Russian nationalities into the governments of their specific Soviet republics, Stalin doubled down on many of these policies, instead branding a number of ethnic groups as ‘traitors’ and exiling them to Siberia or Central Asia as second-class citizens with restricted freedom and rights. In fact, the actions taken by Stalin can be described as ‘ethnic cleansing’ as they resulted in the forced deportation of millions of people and a large number of deaths. Over the next couple of months, I will be self-studying Stalin's Russia. New episodes will be released every Tuesday (and on some Fridays)! What was the foreign policy of Soviet Russia?

8/9/2022
Shortly after he gained control over the party, Stalin embarked on a period of radicalisation of the Soviet foreign policy that aligned with his hardline domestic policies. To convey a sense of emergency for modernising the Soviet Union, Stalin portrayed the Western powers, with France in particular, as violent nations who were seeking to attack and destroy the Soviet nation. Domestically, Stalin eliminated any forms of opposition to his power, replacing those in positions of power with his friends and allies. With this, Stalin shaped the foreign policy of the Soviet Union. Over the next couple of months, I will be self-studying Stalin's Russia. Stalin’s views toward Women

8/2/2022
Greetings Podcast listeners! Welcome to History: From One Student to Another and another episode from my series on Stalin’s Russia. In this episode, we will look at the policies and views of Stalin toward women. If you remember from Nazi Germany and Mussolini’s Italy, women were treated as a whole different class to men and had a specific set of ideals put upon them. But in Stalin’s Russia, there were fundamental differences in how he viewed women, as compared with Mussolini and Hitler. In fact, before 1924, the Soviet government had tried to liberate women and establish gender equality as they took steps to weaken the traditional family structure which exploited women. Left-feminist Bolshevik leaders, like Alexandra Kollontai, were the frontrunners in advocating for quality, although Lenin’s views remained somewhat conservative. For this episode, I will begin by observing a number of policies of The Soviet Socialist Republic, under both Lenin and Stalin. Later, we will be looking at the roles of women in employment. Over the next couple of months, I will be self-studying Stalin's Russia. New episodes will be released every Tuesday (and on some Fridays)! The Economic Policies of Stalin’s Russia (Part One)

7/19/2022
Greetings Podcast listeners! Welcome to History: From One Student to Another and another episode from my series on Stalin’s Russia. Up until 1928, Stalin and Bukharin presented themselves as the upholders of Lenin’s legacy through his 1921 New Economic Policy, but this had changed by 1928 when Stalin completely cut down the New Economic Policy and took steps which were even more radical than what the Left Opposition had been advocating for. In this episode, I’ll be speaking about the economic policies which were in place in Stalin’s Russia.
