documentary highlight reel

History Podcasts >

The documentary highlight reel is a podcast where I watch documentaries and share the highlights with you. I have a bachelor's degree in history, and the kinds of documentaries I tend to watch are on black history, sports history, music history, or tech history. I will try to watch a wide range of documentaries to fully appreciate the art form. What's the main problem with documentaries? They're too long! No worries, we're here for you. We'll keep the episodes short - 15 minutes or less. We'll have a whole lot of fun, and learn just a little bit together. Highlights are the most memorable moments I took from the documentary; things that made me cry, shout, or laugh.

More
Welcome to the documentary highlight reel! In this pilot episode, we give you the high points for the Travis Scott: Look Mama I Can Fly documentary that was produced by Netflix in 2019. I go through the narrative of the documentary with you, point out my favorite moments, and then provide an "alternate history" take at the end. I call it the documentary review podcast. That was the original name of this podcast; I changed the name to better reflect show content.

ep 2. Kobe Bryant: Untold Stories

8/30/2019
More
In this second episode of the documentary highlight reel, we take some interpretive freedom of what constitutes a documentary. After that, Kobe forces me to question the value of some recent personal growth I've underwent.

Strap in, we're changing things a bit. It's good! We developed the show concept more, and added an intro. This was the first episode I recorded knowing I was recording the "documentary highlight reel" and not the "documentary review podcast." We review one of my favorite all-time documentaries: Terms and Conditions May Apply, by Cullen Hoback, 2013. This is a documentary about privacy and user data in the internet age. Again, straight highlights with this one! Sample of highlights: a South...
