Special Encore Presentation: If I Only Knew: Pre retirees Share Their Viewpoint on Savings

10/14/2014
In February 2013, American Century Investments conducted a survey of 1,054 full-time employed individuals between the ages of 55 and 65 who are currently participating in their employer-sponsored retirement plan. The purpose of the survey was to understand how pre-retirees view their lifetime efforts to prepare for retirement and to gauge perceptions of how well their employer supported their efforts. Listen in as we will be joined by Diane Gallagher of American Century Investments, who administered the survey, as she shocks us with what the data supports, in particular, that pre-retirees predominately feel that they simply have not saved enough to retire. In Black and Weitz airs on Tuesday at 10AM Eastern Standard to hear these staggering statistics.

Market Levers - Can you Turn Your Portfolio On and Off?

10/7/2014
The Stock Market bottomed out most recently on March 8, 2009 and since that point has risen some 200%. Moreover, each day we continue to grow and hit new market highs, which has some industry pundits questioning when is the next crash going to hit. While most are focusing on the wrong issue of when the markets will drop, the real issue an investor should focus on is do you have the proper tools in your financial portfolio to adapt to a market correction. Join Peter Weitz as he welcomes John Harrington of F Squared Investments, as John will explain how having the appropriate levers in your portfolio, and knowing when to pull on those levers, can save you from heavy market drawdowns. In fact, his process mitigates risk by protecting assets first, then solving for growth. His educational process is one that all investors will want to listen to. 2014: We Are Coming Down the Financial Stretch - Where Are We Headed?

9/23/2014
We are often asked our crystal ball view of where we think we are in the market cycle and where we are headed. Well, 2014 hardly could have started worse, with a brutal and seemingly never-ending winter bringing activity to a halt and keeping shoppers at home in much of the country. The final first quarter estimate told the story, with real gross domestic product (GDP) contracting a much worse-than-expected 2.1%. But there’s a reason the equity market shook off that number. It was after all, so yesterday. What today and the rest of the year look like are much different, as manufacturing and jobs appear to be accelerating, auto and retail sales are on the upswing and even housing is showing some signs of pulling out of its funk. Join me today on the In Black and Weitz Radio Show and we discuss the near term future of the financial markets. In Black and Weitz airs live Tuesdays at 10AM Eastern Standard Time

While there is no question to the severity of this situation, we often wonder at In Black and Weitz how this will impact the global supply of oil and our reliance on the Middle East. Some pundits believe that this crisis will send oil skyrocketing in prices while others feel it is a short term spike. Nonetheless, it leaves experts scratching their heads and investors in yet again, a state of...

Join Peter Weitz for this week's brodacast as he takes us on a journey of how to avoid the pitfulls of financial investing, learn more about behavioral fiannce, and how to be better prepared to embrace retirement.
