The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom is celebrated in history for the civil rights legislation that it helped create. But the exclusion many Black women activists felt during the march also birthed the inspiration behind one of the nation's major force's behind women's rights, the National Organization for Women.

"The March at 60: Reflecting on the Great March on Washington" A powerful retrospective of the historic Great March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, which took place on August 28, 1963. In this special edition of BLACK NOUVEAU, we delve into the significance of this momentous event in the civil rights movement and its lasting impact on society. We will journey through the pages of history to relive the spirit of unity and determination that brought together thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds to advocate for justice, equality, and economic opportunities. As we reflect on the speeches, the atmosphere, and the immense courage of those who participated, we will also examine the progress made since that historic day.

Jim Peck interviews Willie G. Davidson, grandson of one of the founders, and Tom Bolfert, Director of Archives for Harley-Davidson. Four men, three brothers and a friend, began a legacy in Milwaukee that continues to this day, they invented and manufactured a motorcycle.

“Enslaved, Indentured, Free…” is a new book exploring the history of slavery in southwest Wisconsin through the lives of five Black women who secured their freedom in Prairie du Chien in the 1800s. Alexandria Mack brings us this compelling story of Wisconsin history, family, and most importantly, freedom.
