The Skyhoppers Podcast

This is a very special episode because we're joined by the famous friend of the show KIRBY to chat about his feelings on recent Star Wars media as well as his personal relationship with the franchise. Which of course gives Cole and I plenty of room to talk about those things as well. News is light, but we're all hoping for a big 2024 from Lucasfilm!

We're back for the second week in a row to discuss the finale of season 1 of AHSOKA. Overall? Pretty dang good. But are we left with more questions than answers? Also discussed: From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi! Also very good!

Well, I wasn't able to join Cole and Dakota on this episode traipsing around beyond the reaches of our known galaxy, but I'm sure they had a FANTASTIC conversation recapping episodes five and six of AHSOKA. But I guess we can all just listen and find out, can't we?

Ahsoka continues, and there are big things happening!! And then some things happening that are maybe supposed to be big, but they didn't feel that big to some of us. But we're all enjoying the show and looking forward to see what happens next! Also... this episode contains a very important lesson about not believing everything you see on the internet.

Ahsoka really does just feel like Rebels part two, and it's all the better for it! We catch up on the three episodes that have come out to date and end up feeling pretty warm and fuzzy about them, against all odds (but not really because of Ahsoka herself. Like at all). Ben is also continuing on the journey to catch up with Canon and has moved on to Black Spire hot off the heels of Rise of the Red Blade, which we loved.

We were at Gen Con two weeks ago! Which was fun, but it kept us away from the podcast. But we're back now to report on the Star Warsy things we did at Gen Con as well as to spend like 45 minutes talking about Ahsoka (both the show and the person).

We do some catching up this week: checking in with Cole re: Jedi: Survivor, talking to Dakota about Path of Vengeance a little bit, and of course... the Ahsoka trailer. There's a lot to say about that last one.

THE WAIT IS OVER! You've all been waiting with bated breath, right? I'm sure. Anyway. This might be the biggest Star Wars podcast ever recorded. That's probably hyperbole, but I don't even care because it certainly felt that way. We cover not one but TWO episodes of THE MANDALORIAN leading up to the season finale and of course everything that dropped at STAR WARS CELEBRATION. Excitement ensues! We made it!! Somehow, against all odds, we made it to episode 300. And in typical Skyhoppers fashion, we get up to some nonsense: a Star Wars... draft? I resent being killed by my cohosts on this episode, but I wasn't there so what was I to expect? Despite my absence, they intrepidly carry on talking about episode 5 of Season 3 of THE MANDALORIAN and the finale of Season 2 of THE BAD BATCH!

Eva is not quite caught up with The Bad Batch but we're all on the same page regarding THE MANDALORIAN! Season 3 is definitely off to a different start than seasons 1 or 2, but is that a bad thing? We discuss!

Recording OFF-SCHEDULE (which is funny because we recorded on Wednesdays for such a long time that it really just feels like we're back ON schedule) because THE BAD BATCH and THE MANDALORIAN are just that good! Crosshair! What's he up to? Where will he end up? Din Djarin! Did Bo-Katan give the Darksaber back for a reason? Will Grogu continue to do flips? Who IS Thrawn? All of this and more!

My god, there is too much happening! But that's actually a good thing. I was hoping that The Bad Batch episode might have been a little more forgettable this week so that we could spend more time with THE MANDALORIAN SEASON 3 premiere, but alas, that was not to be. So we get to talk about TWO awesome episodes of Star Wars TV this week! How incredible is that??

Eva is back! Again! We're hoping our new recording schedule means that they will be back on a regular basis from now on. But they bring some interesting thoughts about TBB S2, so we're happy they came home.

Dakota and Ben sit down with the intention of talking about Episode 9 of Season 2 of The Bad Batch, and while they get there eventually, they take a lengthy detour through The High Republic land and catch up with some discussion about Convergence by Zoraida Cordova and "new adult" novels! The plan to rescue Han Solo episode

OKAY. SO. We've had a pretty rough release schedule recently, but we've just made a deal that will keep us on a more regular and sustainable recording schedule (hopefully) forever. And we picked a good week to come back on because THE BAD BATCH is so freaking killer and none of us could wait to talk about it.

This is 1) late and 2) not even really an episode of Skyhoppers. But despite our rough release schedule (which is hopefully being addressed going forward), Cole and I were still able to get together and record Obroa-skai Walkers. And since the first half of that show tends to be about The Bad Batch, we decided to kill two mynocks with one stone.
