He has served as a military consultant in general dentistry to the Air Force Surgeon General. He received certification from the American Board of Dentistry and is a diplomat of the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry. He is a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, The Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American and International Association for Dental Research, and the Academy of Operative Dentistry. Dr. Burgess is a fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials and the American College of Dentists. A prolific researcher, Dr. Burgess has authored more than 400 articles, abstracts and textbook chapters and currently receives research funding from federal and industry sources. He is a reviewer for four dental journals and is a member of the advisory board for the Dental Advisor and the Editorial Board for Inside Dentistry. He is a past chair of the Biomaterials Section of the American Association for Dental Schools and has served on the Executive Board for the American Association for Dental Research. Currently he is a member of the American Dental Association’s Council on Scientific Affairs and a member of two ADA committees for specification development for materials and devices. He is active in clinical evaluations of dental materials and is an investigator on clinical protocols evaluating adhesives, ceramic restoratives, fluoride releasing materials, low shrinkage posterior composites and impression materials. Dr. Burgess lectures extensively nationally and internationally and has presented more than 900 continuing education courses. Dr. Burgess is married to a wonderful lady, Patricia. They now reside in Birmingham, AL.

Born in Connecticut and raised in California, Dr. Tran completed her undergraduate studies at the University of the Pacific and went on to receive her D.D.S. at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. To further her education in dentistry, she moved to New York to complete a General Practice Residency program at SUNY Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she became experienced in managing advanced dental cases, trauma, and complex surgeries. After several years building her comprehensive dentistry background as a general dentist, Dr. Tran then decided to pursue her passion for endodontics. She completed her post-graduate endodontics specialty residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she served as Chief Resident of the program. She is an experienced clinician who is trained in contemporary advanced endodontic techniques, microscopic surgical and nonsurgical endodontic treatment, and management of traumatic injuries. Dr. Tran provides endodontic treatment for both adults and pediatric patients in private practice, serving the New York City and Long Island, NY regions to help patients treat dental disease and save their teeth. He remained at the University of Washington for his orthodontic training where he obtained his Masters in Orthodontics in 1999. Since then he has remained on faculty in the Department of Orthodontics as an Affiliate Assistant Professor while maintaining a private practice in Tacoma, Washington. He has received the Charles L. Pincus Research Award for Clinical Research from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and his current research and publications are primarily involved with esthetic, interdisciplinary dentistry. He serves as an instructor in the Treating the Terminal Dentition and Fully Edentulous Patient seminar, in addition to multiple Spear Workshops. Dr. Dichter has served as a guest lecturer and clinical instructor at Oregon Health and Science University School of Dentistry, teaching occlusion and esthetics.
