Idris Muhammad's birthday was November 13, and so I thought I'd do a tribute episode to the legendary drummer (RIP) whose sound shaped so much of jazz, soul, funk, rock and later hip-hop. I was very lucky to witness his greatest once, several years ago at the Blue Note when he was playing with Ahmad Jamal's group.
