SUPER 80S: YESTERDAY'S MUSIC, TODAY'S SOUND kronehit, Austria's leading commercial radio station, has expanded its digital footprint with the launch of Super 80s, one of their four new stations now available nationwide on DAB+. Its audio branding was created by PURE Jingles. Super 80s caters to listeners aged 35-54 with a music mix focusing on pop, rhythmic pop, and some rock from the iconic decade. Core songs include classics like a-ha's "Take on Me," David Bowie's "Modern Love," Michael Jackson's "Thriller," and Van Halen's "Jump." To match the station’s lively and nostalgic vibe, a custom jingle package was created. Fresh and current Dani Linzer, program director for kronehit's DAB+ stations, comments: "We aimed to create a station that resonates with fans of 80s music but also feels fresh and current. The collaboration with PURE Jingles has resulted in a sound that perfectly balances nostalgia and modernity, ensuring Super 80s stands out in today’s digital radio landscape. There are 28 new stations launching this year, bringing the total to 58 DAB+ programs soon available in Austria." Thomas Giger, branding consultant at PURE Jingles, explains: "In close collaboration with Thomas Wollert and Alexander Gruber from the client's team, we aimed for a modern feel by creating lively, 'bouncy' compositions. And instead of 'big choir' vocals, it was chosen to have powerful, solo-based sings with crunchy voice processing on them. The result makes the station sound like one of today."

SLAM! - The Netherlands | Demo

SLAM! is kicking off the summer with a brand-new jingle package, building on their previous package from 2022 and the summer package from 2023. The station has once again teamed up with PURE Jingles for this major update. Martijn Zuurveen, Radio Director at SLAM!, explains: "After the successful introduction of our previous package, we wanted to continue surprising and inspiring our listeners. The new 2024 package from PURE perfectly matches the refreshing and energetic direction we are taking with SLAM!. We boost the lives of our listeners 24/7 with music and content. Fitting audio design is key to making it all come together on-air." Energy and innovation SLAM! targets men aged 20-40 with its Pop & Dance format and needed an audio styling that serves this audience well. The sound also had to match current music trends, which are always evolving. The regional broadcaster for North Holland, NH, has a new brand sound to add luster to their updated programming. A clear desire from NH was a friendly, soft and calm approach that appeals to the older target group. That sound and feel can be heard in the jingles, but also in the news package. Central to the jingle package is NH's slogan, 'Thuis in heel Noord-Holland' ('At home in all of North Holland'). In addition to imaging for news, weather, traffic and sports, IDs and jingles were created. From a top of the hour and bottom of the hour to many jingles for between the music. Covering various genres and suitable for transitions, such as from slow to fast tempo. So-called breakbusters have also been made as a part of this package. Designed to hold the listener's attention during commercial breaks, allowing the station voice to 'tease' content coming up after the break. It celebrates the Classic Hits playlist, while adding a sense of freshness to the music and the brand. “A generic challenge of the Classic Hits format is to keep it sounding interesting music-wise”, says Thomas Giger of PURE Jingles. “Playlists tends to be consistent, with not many titles being added or removed, apart from 'platooning' the library - taking an active segment of certain music categories out of rotation, and temporarily replacing it by another batch of similar songs. The right jingles are contributing to this desired feeling of musical surprise.” Brand perception “We also expect a positive perceptual effect for the brand as a whole. A brand name like Nostalgie could be associated with the meaning of the word nostalgia, which may be connected to feelings of melancholy. In reality, it’s a modern and feel-good radio station. Relaunching the Kingdom’s first and currently only English-language radio station, Radio Bahrain 96.5FM. Aimed at English-speaking Bahraini and expat residents between 10 and 55, the station has a wide audience in terms of cultures and backgrounds. So they were in need of audio branding that unifies the station and its digital platforms under a single sonic identity. Plus a visual ident for screen devices. The sound production and motion graphic had to contribute to the station’s ambition of being a dynamic brand. Not only in the Kingdom, but in the Arab world. Hot AC + CHR = Hot CHR The creative formula had to fit that wide age demographic, mostly focused on the younger end to achieve the desired brightness of sound. It could be called a CHR package with a touch of Hot AC, reflecting a current mix of Pop with Pop-Rock, Urban and Dance. Or, given the climate, Hot CHR might be a better name? Consisting of 10 custom-made jingles, and news, service & contest imaging, this is the 2023 sound for Radio Bahrain 96.5FM.

The popular French radio brand has expanded its PURE Jingles package with additional custom-composed themes to make their novelty sound complete. In March of 2023, Chérie FM launched into a new era of audio branding. The reason for this was a desire to evolve the brand from a softer towards a more modern AC format, including uptempo and contemporary songs. The station is using this strategy to appeal to a mostly female audience in the 25-49 demographic. “The French Médiamétrie ratings are mostly based on brand recall. So the station was looking for jingles that drive their positioning and brand name home”, Thomas Giger of PURE Jingles explains. “The latter is achieved by a memorable logo, always sung in a specific way.” “Apart from building and then maintaining Chérie FM’s brand awareness, the jingles needed to be functional for creating era transitions, like segueing from a 80s classic into a 00s record or vice versa. And doing that quickly to keep the flow going. Some of the Basic IDs are just 7 to 9 seconds long. In this case, less is more.”
