Another listener request, this episode covers how AvPD affects someone on a day to day basis. It covers motivation, relationships, work and school life, and isolation/avoidance. It also mentions an article published this year called 'Struggling to be a person: Lived experience of avoidant personality disorder.' Hope you enjoy.
My thoughts, at the present time, on healthy ways to cope with the difficult thoughts, feelings, and sensations related to Avoidant PD. They're not about avoiding in particular, so these can apply to a variety of mental health conditions, such as social anxiety disorder, depression, anxiety, and borderline personality. (However, I do include one technique I found to cope with avoiding).
Some of the other episodes were sort of theoretical, so this one looks at practical things you can do to improve your mental health and well-being. These are recommendations for any mental health condition, not just avoidant personality. Included in today's episode on this topic are: sleep, exercise, nutrition and eating well, and being in nature.
Today's episode covers personality tests, specifically, the Five Factor Model (the Big Five), the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory), the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), and the Enneagram.
What's the difference between social anxiety disorder and avoidant personality disorder? This episode looks at both conditions and some of the differences and similarities between them.
