Mike Matheny will have to be better with the clubhouse in Kansas City than he reportedly was in St. Louis. So far, it looks like he is doing just that. The Royals finally lost on Sunday, and starting pitching is a concern early on. The offense had some scary characteristics as well Sunday. Bill Self received a lifetime contract from the University of Kansas on Friday. I explain the new contract in this podcast. It was a scary start to the season, but the offense responded, and the Royals beat the Texas Rangers 14-10. Brad Keller struggled and allowed five runs in the first, but the Royals put up five of their own in the bottom of the inning. I'll talk about the game and what we saw out of the new guys. The Royals made some big news this week with a trade for Andrew Benintendi. We have seen all three local colleges play this week, Kansas twice. Missouri had a bad one. Kansas won back-to-back games for the first time since early January. And even though Kansas State lost, they played much better than we have seen most of the season. The Super Bowl is slowly coming into view. We are just a few days away. There is always talk from one player or another, and with nothing else for the media to talk about, things get way overblown.
