20230629 - Liberty Minute

Let's talk Biden-conomy I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. Resident Biden and his team are standing behind their economic record as Biden kicks off his re-election campaign. Let's talk about some numbers. $2.39 was the price of a gallon of regular gasoline on inauguration day, 2021. $3.56 was the average price yesterday. That is a $1.17 or 49% increase which costs the average driver an additional $525 per year. So, Biden-conomy is not good on gasoline. 2.65% was the rate for a 30-year mortgage when Biden took office. 7.51% is the 30-year fixed rate today. That is a 283% increase that costs home buyers and extra $528 per month on a $100,000 mortgage. Add those together and the Biden-conomy costs the average home buyer with a car an extra $6861 per year. Sure, unemployment is down, but Biden-flation is robbing all of us. And so it begins. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. Representative Boebert’s resolution to impeach Resident Biden did not get the privileged status she was hoping for. Privilege status would have forced the House of Representative to vote on the resolution. Instead, the impeachment was sent to committee. Technically that means the investigation has begun, but many bills and resolutions never come out of committee and effectively die. I don't understand why any investigation is needed. Resident Biden stood at a podium and told us that all of his Constitutional advisors said the eviction moratorium during CoVid was unconstitutional but he was going to extend it anyway. Like me, Biden is bound by an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and he openly admitted on camera he was not going to do that. That alone should be enough to impeach any office holder at any level, regardless of party affiliation. If you own firearms, you need carry insurance. Democrats want to regulate the SupremeCourt. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. So, Democrat lawmakers want to regulate the Supreme Court, a separate and equal branch of government. As a Constitutional originalist, I take issue with this concept as a whole. As a human being with a little common sense, I take issue with the particulars. The US Constitution gave Congress the authority to establish any necessary courts beneath the Supreme Court, but that is where Congressional authority ends regarding the courts. The Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights, wants to mandate that justices be recused if they have any financial connection to a case. Hmm, using that same logic, no member of Congress should ever be allowed to vote on any bill they have a financial connection to, but if that happened then how would Congress maintain their ability to become millionaires at a rate over two times higher than the rest of the population? Congress, regulate yourselves effectively and then maybe we can talk about allowing you to assume power over the only branch of government that ever keeps you in check AT ALL. People are getting stupid, and now there is proof. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. This year’s spring edition of Intelligence Online reported on IQ tests of 18-60-year-olds. The online magazine has been doing this study for quite some time, and this year’s report was the first time the average IQ of Americans dropped. Usually, the average IQ went up 3-5 points every decade. This time it went down. Well, look at the age range, 18-60-year-olds. Anyone under 48 was educated entirely under the federal department of Education. Those who pre-date the Department of Education are aging out of the study. Do we really need any more evidence that government, especially the federal government, should not be involved in educating our young people? Instead of critical thinking young people are being taught sexuality. Logic and reason have become political correctness. History is now critical race theory. This is starting to look like the plot of the movie Idiocracy. If you own firearms, you need carry insurance. Governor DeSantis is officially in the presidential race. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. DeSantis used to be a pretty cookie-cutter Republican. Since the Wuhan flu pandemic, he seems to have leaned pretty hard into the MAGA / conservative camp. I don't know if he actually grew up to be a conservative or if he is just acting like one for political gain. Either way, I have a couple of suggestions for him: Embrace your youth. We The People are tired of octogenarian politicians. If you want to have any chance of winning the primaries, you need to win over a significant number of Trump supporters. One way might be to promise that when elected you'll pardon Trump and put an end to years of tax-funded investigations. If you have become more conservative over time, admit that. Make a public statement about your beliefs when you were in the House and how they've changed.I'm not leaning toward any candidate yet. I want all the candidates to fight for the nomination. It Is primary season again. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. Tuesday was primary day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, my home state. That really got me thinking about the entire primary process. Primaries are how the two main political parties, private organizations, decide who they will put on the ballot for the actual election. The direct primary election is unique to the United States. The current system has only been around since the 1970s, and somehow, it has become taxpayer funded. The 2016 primary elections cost taxpayers over $427 million. To make that idea even worse, not everyone is allowed to participate in the taxpayer funded selection process. 26 million registered voters can't vote in primaries because they are not registered to one of the two big parties and live in closed primary states. What's the solution? Make the parties pay for their own primaries or go back to caucuses. The parties pay for the process in every caucus state. If you believe in limited government and are fed up with the uni-party. Visit https://constitutionparty.com/ and break out of the two-party illusion. Let's talk debt vs. deficit I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. The National Debt is like your credit card balance. It is the amount of money owed if you pay it off right now. The National Debt Limit is like your credit limit. It is the maximum amount you are allowed to borrow. The 14th Amendment says that the Public Debt shall not be questioned. It does NOT say that increasing the debt can't be challenged or questioned. Every time we approach the debt limit, politicians on both sides say that we will default on our debt if we don't raise the limit. That is only true if government keeps spending on everything they want. Only two expenses are specifically authorized by the US Constitution, the Public Debt and National Defense. Constitutionally, everything else is optional. Pay the debt payment and the National Defense expenses and budget what is left; no debt increase is needed. Don't let politicians lie to you so they can keep spending your money with reckless abandon. Please visit the shop at Liberty-Lighthouse.com and pick up a bumper sticker or a t-shirt. Three stupid mistakes turn into shootings. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. In the span of six days there have been three shootings, one deadly, because of innocent mistakes. Two cheerleaders were shot in the parking lot of a Texas grocery store on Tuesday when they accidentally got into the wrong car. On Saturday, a group looking for a friend's house in New York pulled into the wrong driveway where one of the group was shot to death by the homeowner. Last Thursday, in Missouri, a teenager was shot when he went to the wrong house looking for his twin brothers. I own guns. I believe in the second amendment, but there is responsibly that goes with the right to bear arms. Get trained, and not just once. Continue training. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. If you own a firearm, then you need legal protection. Use code LIGHTHOUSE at ProtectWithBear.com for the most affordable carry insurance available. During 2019 & 2020 there were 34,000 gun related homicides, 94,000 committed suicide, and 161,000 died from drug overdose. What does our government focus on? More often than not, gun control. Three times as many people took their own life and five times as many people overdosed. Logic would dictate focus on the biggest killer first, then the second biggest killer, and so on. These numbers are proof that the government only cares about you and I when there is a partisan political battle to be fought. Why focus on mental health, stability, and illegal drugs when guns grab the biggest headlines? For that matter, why are guns the biggest headlines when five times as many people die from overdose and fentanyl poisoning? The media and our government are both more interested in sensational headlines than actually fixing any problem. It was just revealed another dozen undercover police officers were in the crowd with the Proud Boys on January 6th, 2021. That brings the total to at least 50 undercover law enforcement that we know about. One admitted to chanting along with the crowd. Not surprisingly, his body cam footage has not been made available, his text messages were deleted, and his phone was destroyed. A video leaked and posted to Rumble almost three weeks ago shows three undercover officers helping protesters climb over barriers, shouting pro-Trump slogans, and directing the crowd to proceed up the northwest stairs to the Capitol. This is all starting to sound a lot like a classic entrapment scenario. It also looks like the 1,000 people that have already been prosecuted have grounds for mistrial lawsuits. Protests inside the Tennessee state capital yesterday raise questions. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. I carry a gun to protect those around me. I am a member of Right To Bear to protect my legal rights. Use code LIGHTHOUSE at ProtectWithBear.com for affordable carry insurance. Protesters swarmed the Tennessee state capital building yesterday as votes were being taken to expel three Democrat members of the state house. The vote to expel the three Democrats is because last week those three joined in another protest inside the capital. That protest disrupted the proceedings of the legislature. I'm not sure how to feel about this. Should elected officials be removed because they protested and disrupted the proceedings? One thing I definitely noticed is that nobody is reporting on the storming of this state capital as an insurrection. 1,000 people have been prosecuted for storming a capital building and disrupting an official proceeding on January 6th, 2021. How is this any different? Oh, because these protesters want gun control. Also yesterday, OPEC+ announced that beginning next month they will be cutting oil production by 1.15 million barrels per day. The announcement, let alone the production cut, are certain to cause gas prices to rise even higher. Remember that when gas prices go up so does the cost of everything else. Between inflation and gas prices, cost of living is out of control. Evelyn Dieckhaus

4/1/2023
I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. The shooting at a Nashville school on Monday fired up the political divide, as usual. The left immediately wants to blame guns and ban assault rifles. The right says we should have armed security in schools. I want to talk about Evelyn Dieckhaus. In fact, I want the name Evelyn Dieckhaus to be known by everyone in the United States. When the deranged psychopath starting shooting in the small Christian school, Nine-year-old Evelyn Dieckhaus lost her life because she ran to pull the fire alarm. Evelyn Dieckhaus showed more courage in that moment than most adults. A nine-year-old girl didn't run or hide. Her first thought was to summon help and save lives. The name Evelyn Dieckhaus and the story of her bravery is what we should all talk about, so please say her name and share her story. I am a member of Right To Bear to protect my legal rights. Use code LIGHTHOUSE at ProtectWithBear.com for affordable carry insurance. Children's Health Defense has filed a lawsuit against Resident Biden and several top offices over government pressuring social media companies to censor users. The first amendment is clear, government cannot stifle speech. Asking a third party, like a social media company, to censor is still a violation of our rights. No matter who is doing the censoring, if it is being directed by the government then that government is totalitarian and authoritarian. A Government who silences anyone who questions their authority is tyrannical and authoritarian. My question is, why did it take so long to file this lawsuit? The Whitehouse admitted they were doing this two years ago.
