Panthers draft receiver Tetairoa McMillan with No. 8 pick
4/25/2025
The Carolina Panthers chose Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the eighth pick in Thursday's NFL Draft.
McMillan was third in FBS with 1,319 receiving yards at 15.7 yards per reception. He set the Wildcats' school record with 3,423 career receiving yards and was a first-team AP All-American this year.
Most people thought the Panthers would pick a player on the defensive side of the ball, but the team opted to take McMillan, adding another weapon for quarterback Bryce Young.

Panthers draft preview: Evaluating Dan Morgan's options with the No. 8 pick
4/24/2025
When Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan spoke last week ahead of the NFL Draft, you got the feeling that he's more than willing to trade the No. 8 overall pick.
"Maybe a team really loves a guy," Morgan told reporters. "We'll be waiting if somebody wants to come up."
While Carolina might be willing to trade out of the No. 8 spot, they'll almost certainly make a selection during Thursday night's first round.

New bills could halt Silfab Solar project in Fort Mill
4/17/2025
Construction of the controversial Silfab solar plant in Fort Mill could face serious delays under two new bills advancing in the South Carolina legislature. House Bill 4293 and Senate Bill 530 would give local zoning officials the power to immediately halt any construction project if they determine it doesn’t comply with zoning rules — even if permits were already issued and work is underway.
That means if York County were to rule that Silfab’s planned solar panel factory isn’t properly zoned, the company’s permits would be instantly voided.
Construction would have to stop immediately — and couldn’t resume unless Silfab either fixed the zoning issue or got a judge to allow work to continue during legal appeals, which would be good news for those who want the project stopped.

NC bill banning books with sex descriptions in school libraries passes through house committee
4/16/2025
A North Carolina House committee on Tuesday approved a bill that would prohibit books with sexual activity in libraries and allow parents and county residents to sue schools over books deemed inappropriate for students.
House Bill 636 passed the House Education Committee and now advances to the full chamber for consideration.
The legislation would establish new procedures for selecting and removing school library materials, including creating community advisory committees to evaluate books. Materials containing "descriptions or visual depictions of sexual activity" or content deemed "pervasively vulgar" would be prohibited regardless of literary merit.
