Following Jesus does not exempt us from trials, problems, or testings. We are not promised a problem free life. However, trials have a purpose. They reveal our faith and develop our character. Jesus can help us with our struggles. We trust him to be saved but we also need to trust him for our salvation. How does this occur? Well, we need to change! We have learned through this lesson that there is a war going on within us: our old nature and our new nature. There is a constant struggle between the two but in order to deal with our struggle we must: confess that sin lives in us, not be controlled by the sin that tries to control us, and continue to rely on the only Savior that can deliver us.
