EP38: Life Vein (Song Review) w/ Khalil The Goat

9/20/2022
In Episode 38 of Elevated Conversations, I interviewed my dear friend, Khalil Roquemore, also known by his artist name, Khalil The Goat. In August 2021, Khalil and I released an interfaith collaboration titled "Life Vein", which is about our soul's nearness to God. In 50:16 of The Quran, it states: "We verily created man and We know what his soul whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein." While in the Baha'i Writings, Bahá’u’lláh states: "This most great, this fathomless and surging Ocean is near, astonishingly near, unto you. Behold it is closer to you than your life-vein!" Moved by these pieces of scripture, Khalil and I came together to create this song in hopes of inspiring others to tap into their connection with the Almighty. In the interview, we explored Khalil's journey in life, how we met, the inspiration behind the new song, and a bunch of other elevated themes! To listen to "Life Vein": Khalil The Goat ft. EP35: Free (Song Review) w/ my album art designer, Luna

1/22/2022
In the 8th and final episode of the "Created Noble Series" of Elevated Conversations (episode 35, overall), I bring on the incredible album art designer! His name is Brian Luna (most commonly referred to as "Luna"), and he is an amazing artist and human being! In this episode, we highlight track 8 of the Created Noble album, titled "Free". Free is a feel good song about inner peace and spiritual freedom and aims to bring good vibes to the soul. It was the perfect episode to bring on Luna, as he is someone who has always given me nothing but positive, friendly, all around good vibes. Luna and I had recently reconnected, and it happened to be at a time when I was struggling to find someone to commission for the cover art of my album, so he was truly a God send! In addition to the cover art of the album, Luna also designed the t-shirt and sticker designs! In the interview, we discuss how Luna got into the arts, some of his artistic aspirations, what it was like designing this particular piece of art, and of course what it means to be created noble! Luna is an awesome human being, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy this interview! The "Created Noble Series" of the Elevated Conversations podcast goes through my latest album, track by track, bringing on guests who made a significant contribution to the project creatively or inspirationally. EP34: Ms. Carry (Song Review) w/ my therapist, Katrin Modabber

1/15/2022
In episode 7 of the "Created Noble Series" of Elevated Conversations (episode 34, overall). I bring on a very special guest: my marriage counselor! Also a dear friend of mine, Katrin Modabber, was incredibly helpful to my wife Mallory and me in the early years of our marriage. Katrin was also invaluable in assisting my wife and I with processing the deeply emotional experiences of miscarriage. There were a few key insights, particularly designating a name to the miscarried children, that were so helpful to us in making peace with the grief of losing a precious soul before they could be born into this world. The "Created Noble" album centers on my experiences as a father, most notably centering on my first born son, Noble. However, in the process of writing the album, my wife Mallory and I experienced 2 miscarriages (1 before Noble, and 1 after). I wrote Ms. Carry shortly after the 2nd miscarriage. Music and writing has been a powerful way to channel my emotions, and writing the song was very therapeutic for me. With that said, I felt it was seemly to bring Katrin on as the featured guest for this particular episode. We discuss how we met, what brought her to Phoenix in the first place, how she got into counseling, her journey in the Baha’i Faith, and unpack the emotional and spiritual significance of miscarriage, a topic that is not often discussed very openly. I hope you find find the interview insightful and elevating in nature! EP31: Created Noble (Song Review) w/ my son, Noble

12/24/2021
Episode 4 of the "Created Noble Series" of Elevated Conversations (episode 31, overall), is one for the history books! I interviewed my 4 year old son, Noble! Being a father to Noble, my first born son, was the primary inspiration behind the Created Noble album, so I really wanted to try to bring him on for an interview for this series. I felt episode 4 would be perfect, as the featured track is also titled "Created Noble", and it is essentially a love song I wrote for my son This was such a fun, interesting, insightful interview! I wasn't sure how interviewing a 4 year old would go, but I think it turned out fantastic! In the interview, Noble and I discuss where babies come from and how they form, what happens when we die, why some pregnancies end in miscarriage, and why my son feels that God created him. Pretty deep! And along the way, there are plenty of hilarious little moments, as one would expect in an interview with a 4 year old. I hope it brings a smile to your face, and insight and reflection to your mind! EP20: Nothing But Love (Song Review) w/ W.ill and Brian.

12/6/2020
November 19th, 2020 was a special day! It marked the release of "Nothing But Love", a musical collaboration between myself and my young homies W.ill and Brian.! In addition, it was also Will's 18th's birthday! What makes this song so special to me is that I have known Will and Brian since they were in middle school. We were all part of a community junior youth empowerment group that I helped mentor in the Sunnyslope neighborhood here in Phoenix, Arizona. They both stuck with the group until its completion and continue to be active in community building efforts to this day! I can honestly say they are now two of my closest friends! "Nothing But Love" was actually written at a youth empowerment training through the Ruhi Institute in the summer of 2018, but we didn't get around to getting it professionally produced until this year. Will's 18th birthday gave us the added motivation to get the song out to the world! We also felt that, with this year having so many challenges, it would hopefully bring people a bit of joy to their hearts... ❤️ In episode 20 of Elevated Conversations, W.ill, Brian., and myself share the story behind the song, as well as our journey as friends through the junior youth spiritual empowerment program. We hope it brings you some inspiration! If you have not yet had a chance to listen to Nothing But Love, I suggest to check it out before listening to the interview! You can stream it on your preferred streaming platform using the link below: https://fanlink.to/nothingbutlove You can also check out a fun little skit we put together for the song here: https://youtu.be/MI4U0Nq6b-4

EP19: Our Birth Story (w/ My Wife, Mallory Quigg)

11/13/2020
On October 28th, 2020, my wife Mallory birthed our newborn son, Justice Michael Justice. Like with our first son, Noble, Mallory made the choice to do an all natural home birth. We also utilized the Bradley Method of natural childbirth, which places the partner (myself) in the role of coach. Many people have asked us to share more about our birth story, so we thought it would be fun to record it in the form of a podcast episode. We recount the 9 months of preparation leading up the Justice's birth, the highlights of the labor and birth, the background behind his name, and other interesting tidbits related to child birth. We hope you find it insightful, inspiring, and elevated! For more information on the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth: http://www.bradleybirth.com/
