A Change of Plans

7/6/2023
God's ways are not always our ways. What happens when God changes your direction? Even the Apostle Paul experienced this. We find it in Acts 16. We see great results when a child of God allows Him to change their plans. Acts 16:6-9 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, [7] After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. [8] And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. [9] And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. Hunger Pains

7/5/2023
What do you do when you are hungry? How about when you are thirsty? Don't we naturally find something to eat and drink? What happens when we hunger and thirst after righteousness? The Lord Jesus gives us an answer and we find an example in the Psalms of David. Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Psalm 42:1-2 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. [2] My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? How to Get What You Want

7/4/2023
The secret to getting what you want is simple. You just have to want what God wants. What could be easier? Of course, for many of us, that means adjusting our desires to His desires and sometimes we find that to be the hard part. It may by hard but it is achievable and it does bring happiness. We simply have to prioritize the spiritual over the carnal. Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord ; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Send questions and comments to info@faithinfive.org. Ashamed to be Ashamed

7/3/2023
The Apostle Paul had much to be ashamed of. In fact, he once called himself the chief of sinners. One thing, however, that he was never ashamed of was the gospel of Jesus Christ. Join Gary today as he examines this portion of Scripture and reminds us that we should be ashamed to be ashamed of Jesus. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Empty Excitement

7/2/2023
Sometimes people get excited over nothing. That happens in the spiritual real as well. People get excited over their anticipation of achieving heaven through their righteous works when in fact that hope is hollow. That is why the Apostle Paul described those closest to him as having a zeal that was without knowledge. Join Gary as he explores this passage from Romans 10 and explains how we can have a hope that is certain. Romans 10:1-4 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. [2] For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. [3] For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. [4] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Send questions and comments to info@faithinfive.org. He's God: You're Not!

7/1/2023
Are you a control freak? Do you like to be in charge of everything? Many of us have that compulsion. However, Psalm 46:10 reminds us that we are not in control of everything. Join, Gary as he looks at this Psalm and reminds us of our place and His place. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. God is For Me

6/30/2023
We all have those days when we feel like the world is closing in on us and everyone is against us. Sometimes its more thana feeling and it is a fact. It doesn't matter when you know that God is for you. Psalm 56:9 reminds us of this. But take a look at that entire chapter. It is filled with encouragement and direction when the world offers discouragement and depression. Psalm 56:1-13 Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me. [2] Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. [3] What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. [4] In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. [5] Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. [6] They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. [7] Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God. [8] Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? [9] When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. [10] In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word. [11] In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. [12] Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee. [13] For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? One Blood

2/21/2023
The Devil is always looking for a way to divide us. But what does the Bible have to say about this? Listen as Rick and Gary ponder Acts 17:26 that says the we were all created with one blood. Acts 17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; Send questions and comments to info@faithinfive.org. Don't Forget to Stir

2/20/2023
Do you have a favorite drink? Smitty shares his favorite drink with Gary, chocolate milk. It's simple enough to make, you just need a cup of milk, chocolate, and to stir vigorously. God has shown us His favor by giving us spiritual gifts, but if we don't stir them up by using, what good will they ever do? 2 Timothy 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. Sunshine and Rain

2/20/2023
Many of us often sang "The Wise Man/ Foolish Man" song in Sunday school as kids. Join in as Pastor Gary and Rick discuss the passage this song came from in today's podcast. Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Fireproof

2/19/2023
Some of what is done on earth will last for eternity. Will your actions last when you stand before Christ? Or will they burn up like wood, hay, and stubble? 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; [13] Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. [14] If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. [15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Face Blindness

2/17/2023
Listening to a podcast on unusual topics, Gary was intrigued by a neurological condition known as prosopagnosia or face-blindness. Together, he and Chris talk about this rare condition and ask if there is a biblical application. Genesis 32:25-30 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. [26] And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. [27] And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. [28] And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. [29] And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. [30] And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. Send questions and comments to info@faithinfive.org.
