9/15/2023
The Beatitudes of the Gospel are eight statements that our Lord taught within the context of the Sermon of the Mount (chapters 5-7 of St. Matthew). They are attitudes, ideals we have to aim for if we want to be true disciples of Christ. They portray, in some way, an image of Jesus Christ, they describe the heart of the Gospel. 120 Married Couples are the Bulwark of Society

7/21/2023
Married couples are the bulwark of society. Without married couples, society would fall apart and the Catholic Church would be in a serious crisis. Sacramental Marriage has certain God-given characteristics, or “goods”, and some responsibilities. In this episode we speak about how marriage is one and indissoluble, a life-long commitment that requires mutual fidelity of the spouses, openness to life (which includes the education and Christian formation of the children), and a concern of each spouse for the physical, emotional and, above all, spiritual well-being both of the other spouse and of their children. - You can find the topics discussed in this episode in the Catechism, numbers 1642-1666. - Encyclical “Familiaris Consortio” (John Paul II): https://www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/apost_exhortations/documents/hf_jp-ii_exh_19811122_familiaris-consortio.html . 113 The Sacrament of Marriage, a Treasure in the Church

6/2/2023
Louis and Zelie Martin, the parents of St. Therese of Lisieux, are a model of Christian marriage. 108 Fr. Walter Ciszek – “The Mass Gave Us Strength”

4/28/2023
Fr. Walter Ciszek, S.J., (1904-1984) was born in Shenandoah, PA. He entered the Society of Jesus, and soon after he volunteered to be—after his ordination—a missionary to Russia. Ordained in 1937, he was assigned to a Parish in Albertyn, Poland. After the Russian invasion of Poland, he went with another priest toward Russia, in search for work. But the conditions were miserable, and the prospect very dark. Fr. Ciszek was faced with a terribly disappointing situation. In the midst of that desolation, the only strength was the occasional celebration of the holy Mass, in secret and in the woods… His priesthood, and the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist helped Fr. Ciszek persevere through terrible hardships. What is there in the Mass, what is there in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ that can give us such interior strength and endurance? - Fr. Walter Ciszek’s LIFE story can be read in the book: Walter Ciszek, With God in Russia, Ignatius Press, San Francisco, 1997. - Fr. Walter Ciszek’s spiritual commentary to his story (and the quote I read in the episode) can be found in: Walter Ciszek, He Leadeth Me, Image, New York, 1973. - Fr.
