This episode kicks off the new season of the Governing God's Way Podcast, hosted by our Founder and President, Dorothy Burton. Timely. Relevant. Challenging us all as leaders to examine ourselves and how we are representing Jesus Christ and the Kingdom in public space. --- Support this podcast:

What It Takes To Lead And Succeed As A Public Servant Leader

10 minutes. A leader that God honors and blesses. HINT: What we're seeing today on the public stage is far from it. It's why many feel the need to compromise and give in to what they know is wrong to stay in right with the right people. Don't pattern yourself after a party or lose who you are to follow and pattern yourself after a person if they are not following and patterning themselves after Christ. ONLY what we do for Him, not them, will have lasting value and increase the value of our leadership. Leaders of impact are leaders of value. Be a leader who adds value. This episode tells you how. --- Support this podcast:

They're Not Supposed To Like You

When you stand on truth and do what is right, based upon truth, there will always be those who don't like you. Don't base your worth or the worth of your work on the temporary likes of temporary people. Keep doing you. --- Support this podcast:

Admission Takes Away Their Ammunition

The greatest defense we have is not to take offense to something we know we’ve done wrong. Because once we do, we have taken the bait of the Enemy, the bait of Satan and we become entrapped by cover-ups and deceit – which he knows and many all too late learn, will have no good end. Though what we did may have been bad, the worst thing we can do is try to cover it up. Own your past so that no opponent can ever own your future. No one can hold over you what you've owned up to. Run toward, not away from accusations and learn how to flip the script on your opponent. Learn what to do when an opponent smears you in order to embarrass you, shame you or harm your reputation by something you’ve done in your past, and how to flip the script and come out on top. --- Support this podcast:

Are They For You Or Against You? -- How To Know

President Lyndon Johnson once famously said, “If you’re in politics and you can’t tell when you walk into a room who’s for you and who’s against you, then you’re in the wrong line of work. As a leader, you have to know – not assume – but know who is for you and who is against you. Make no assumptions and you’ll make no mistakes. Mistakes are made by people who assume they know. The ability to discern who is for you and who’s not may someday save you. --- Support this podcast:

Identifying Your Brutus Or Judas - Breaking Down Betrayal

Every leader has one. Some several. And they are the ones closest to us that can do us the most harm. Julius Caesar had Brutus. Jesus had Judas. If you lead, you too will have one or the other. How do you identify them? This podcast tells you how before you too get stabbed in the back. --- Support this podcast:

Contra Mundum! Seize the Day!

As a public servant leader, you may wear the label Democrat or Republican, but if you name the name of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, the world systems are against you. If you follow the lamb, Satan doesn't care if you call yourself an elephant or donkey, he's coming for you - and especially as you serve and lead in his world system of government. Not with the world, Contra Mundum! --- Support this podcast:

Positioned For Purpose

Jesus, the King of Glory in the natural was "out of place" the entire 33 years he lived on earth. But every phase of his life was purposed. He was "out of place" among his family. "Out of place" among his fellow Jews. "Out of place" wherever he went. But his focus was not on his place but on his purpose. So should be ours. Each of us has been given life and with that life - purpose. We will sometimes be rejected, ostracized, talked about, feel like we are "out of place" among peers, at our job, among colleagues, even our family. We are where God purposed us to be even when we have messed up, even when we are in uncomfortable environments and especially when we feel alone in doing what is right according to His word. Joseph of Arimathea, a leader, purposed by God, positioned by God, unwittingly fulfilled one of the greatest prophecies of God. He was "purposed" by God in the position he was in to carry out one of the most important events in all of human history. God has purposed and positioned you. Listen. Be blessed. Be encouraged. You are right where God has purposed you for His greater purpose. --- Support this podcast:

Leading Like Jesus

Who is this Jesus? Up to and including Resurrection Sunday, my goal is to bring clarity and bring it down to ground level, the person and leader Jesus the Christ was as fully God and fully man. Through daily postings of 5 principles of leadership from Jesus and through this weekly podcast. None of his leadership principles were rooted in religion. His life wasn't a religious one. In fact, it was the religious who hated him and who would eventually wrongly accuse and crucify him. He was and is, and is to come -- King. He was God in the human body of Jesus. Fully God. Fully man. The King of Glory! He left us with so much truth. How to live and how to lead. If you don't know him. He is the most important person you will ever know. And he left us as leaders, the blueprint for leadership. --- Support this podcast:

Saying Goodbye to Christians In Public Service

All of life is seasonal, even our work. Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3:1: “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven..." Christians In Public Service was founded in 2013 by public servants for public servants in a season for a time and purpose. That season as with all seasons has given way to a new season. This episode introduces the new season and you will learn how to know when a season in your life has ended and God is calling a new one into existence. --- Support this podcast:

There Is No Retirement From Our Work

Jesus said in John 9:4, "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night comes, when no man (or woman) can work." We must do the same. We can retire from our job - perhaps even quit or get fired from our job. But we can neither quit nor be fired from our work. There is a difference, and this episode explores and explains why we should never look forward to "retiring." When it comes to our work, there is no such thing. --- Support this podcast:

What does this kind of revolutionary leadership look like? How can we lead as effectively and impactfully as Jesus? As his ambassadors, it should be easy. Hear It Right Before You Fight

We all have adivsors – as leaders we need them. But if when given advice or briefing about another person, persons or situation and it causes you to immediately react in anger and defensiveness – beware. It could be a trap set unbeknownst even to your most trusted advisors whose tongue Satan could be using to advise you to your detriment. Remember, our fight is not against flesh and blood but against demons. And they don’t fight fair. Instead, double check before you double down. Otherwise,...

The Leader People Will Follow

If people follow you because they are paid to follow you, you're not a leader but a paycheck. Great leaders? People will follow them to the moon and back even if they didn't receive a dime because what they receive in return, money could never buy. The greatest leaders throughout history could never afford to pay the thousands who followed them. Yet, together, they changed their world. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a great example. David hid out in caves, had no money to pay his men, yet hundreds of men followed him from the cave to the kingdom. What endears people to leaders? What will endear them to you? This podcast tells you. And it has nothing to do with money. --- Support this podcast:
