Advent itself literally means “coming” or “expectant waiting”. There was a historical tension as God’s people waited for their prophesied Messiah… sometimes waiting for centuries in silence. Mary, Zechariah, Elizabeth & Joseph waited for the Messiah to incarnate himself in a very personal way. In 2018 we are reminded at Advent that we too wait for Jesus to come again in fullness to wipe every tear, make all things new and make all things right.
