However, he also explains why much of what has been interpreted as a necessity of gender is merely the monotheistic interpretation of this energy. Traits like strength, strategy, courage, and protection of others all stem from this energy source. He goes on to say that those traits can be found in both genders, however, by the division of the universe, the energy itself is masculine. The Shaman also explains how the monotheistic practices associated this energy with the male gender, which is not the natural connection for the energy
