Trying to leave this little old world and the people I meet in a better place then when I first met them. Who am I and what do I do?………Paul Clough. I now love helping making changes in people and guiding them to create the life they really want. A personal look at me: The above sentence was not always the case and being the best in the financial realms of the building industry was my aim and getting there by any means. I now know this is, and was, the worst way ~ even if I did make director of one of the largest building companies in Cambridge by the age of 30. One of the major realisations came on my first ever training in hypnosis. I found that it’s not a win lose world and that a win win is only a low basis to live. Being true to your beliefs and coming from a place of integrity where service is paramount. This understanding together with lots of NLP skills helped create my last partnership in the building industry grow from a turnover of £800k to £16m in less than twelve years and that can only be done with giving more than expected. Another shaping of me came from two traumatic events in my life that happened within six months of each other which created a number of major changes in me and by beliefs in what is possible. I have written about my experience and how I dealt with it but more importantly it really showed me my love for my three boys and theirs for me and resulted in the step up to become a trainer of NLP (which I never intended) and my close and exciting work with two of my sons. In supporting Joseph and help create change in people in our training’s and his wonderful life changing ‘Be your potential weekend’ and with Luke the continuing development of Cambridge Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis processes. My relationship with my third son Daniel just keeps getting better and better too. Not knowing how good I had become in change work in the beginning I generally studied, practiced and saw clients then things started to happen when I started to work following just my instincts. T

FMQ 272 To stay or leave STOP first

10/11/2019
More
To stay or leave STOP first In this 5 minute quickie podcast I'm exploring a little of cause and effect together with taking responsibility. Where does this take us? To ownership and when we take ownership of a situation or our excuses then we begin to make real headway. Sometimes taking ownership means having to say NO, not accepting unimportant, that seem important, tasks to make a diffenernce in a positive way. It all boils down to seeing things for what they are and committing. Seems...

#147 Controlling your memories

10/8/2019
More
Controlling your memories The question is can you? Control a memory that is. I guess it all depends on what or how you define control. For me it's can I, you, control the effect of a memory on our state - good or bad makes no difference. The answer is a resounding yes but we very rarely do. The thing about memories is that it depends on the emotional state you are in when you recall a memory because that will have a major effect on how you feel as you recall it. If you think about it if...

FMQ 271 Letting go to find treasure

10/4/2019
More
Letting go to find treasure Alright me little pirates X marks the spot - No not that type of treasure - but I guess you guessed that :O) So there's a man with these two very heavy suitcases - What's that got to do with finding treasure? Then I was reminded of a story I heard from a great hypnotherapist Micheal Yapko (great surname) and introduce to a quotation from Joseph Campbell's A Hero's Journey by a guy I've mentioned before, Jerry Caronna, "The treasure you seek is in the back of...

FMQ 270 Time for a treat and success

10/1/2019
More
Time for a treat and success What would happen if instead of waiting to complete something your doing before you congratulate yourself and treat yourself for the achievement you you did in in the middle as well? Counter intuitive? maybe but it works and it works for everyone in any context. That's a BIG statement Cloughie Not really cos it does. Don't just trust me 'The Artists way' confirms this too as well as many more example. In my life it all started hearing about dolphins, I've...

#146 Imposter syndrome part 2

9/27/2019
More
Imposter syndrome part 2 So welcome to this second part of delving into our world of feeling an imposter. In some ways being an imposter to me means I'm not yet living to my full potential and as I understand and believe our potential is infinite ao I never will live up to my potential so I'll always be an imposter and that's OK!! :O) Now we've got that out of the way we can dive deeper into this syndrome the definition of a syndrome is: a group of symptoms which consistently occur...

FMQ 268 Knowledge is only a rumour

9/17/2019
More
Knowledge is only a rumour This five minute podcast inspired by the brilliant Mark Devine in his podcast The unbeatable mind when interviewing Richard Strozzi-Heckler and the magical words were uttered: Knowledge is only a rumour until it's in the muscle This blew me away because it both resonated and reminded me of the way we, two of my three sons and I, teach NLP and Hypnosis. To get what we teach in the muscle and when you do you get to master your skills. Our definition, not sure...

FMQ 267 Are you pointing in the right direction

9/10/2019
More
Are you pointing in the right direction A 5 minute podcast that lasts a little longer :O) By striving to get to where we want to be as fast as we can often leads to bad technique, cheating and in the end not being as good as you aimed for. We see this in the gym with some people lifting too heavy weights and applying the wrong technique to lift them and in effect cheating with result of lack of gains - now we call see that and know that's silly yet if you're like me we can put our hands up...

FMQ 266 The possibility of all things

9/6/2019
More
The possibility of all things Everything is possible when you free yourself This podcast is and was inspired by the late Wayne Dyer from his book 'You will see it when you believe it' - What an awesome and true title. And in that book this sentence really resonated within me Place in your imagination the possibility of all things When you do this anything and everything is possible. This is proved by my hero Walt Disney, he had to have done this to create so much that infected so many...

#143 You and I - a personal sharing

9/3/2019
More
You and I - a personal sharing This just happened to me and I just had to share it with you. An AhHa! moment through my journaling and and email - Oh that's so vague Cloughie and it will get clearer or become clear if you decide to come with me. As I mused with my journal things began to come to me about relating with you, my relationship with you and then I started to go deeper questioning how I relate to ME and my unconscious mind. What came to mind as I thought and wrote in my journal...

FMQ 265 Stop - it's time to grow

8/30/2019
More
Stop - it's time to grow There's so many metaphors using gardening to have you grow, plant your seeds and nurture etc. etc. and this isn't one of them. But....... We can learn from nature and how things evolve and as we're growing anyway maybe we should have a little look around and see how we can incorporate the best of nature into our planned growth. ---- You do plan your growth don't you??? Maybe we should STOP and consider and decide our goals, plans, dreams and desires - our future...

FMQ 264 No more pity

8/27/2019
More
No more pity Will this be a voyage into controversy? What spurred this 5 minute quickie was listening to a well meaning person on UK national radio saying how sorry they felt for obese people because of a national advertisement and following this with "It's not like doing smoking - you don't do obese" You and I, people, anyone, everyone, do not need pity, however well intended, they need compassion and help - to take responsibility to make changes. We need to look at the cause not the...

Performance anxiety - we all experience it - Part 1 We all perform - Yes we do! Some perform in front of an audience, before examiners, sitting exams, in sports, in meetings, with our partner or friends, in fact we all perform all the time at being us. That's why when Wills, a musician and music teacher, asked for this topic to be discussed I felt it was so important to give it my best and to that end it became a two part podcast with maybe more to follow. 8/16/2019
More
I'm a hypocrite and not sorry It's okay to change your mind and beliefs In this episode I want to ask you to become more curious of what you hear and see and our own bias. I used to think changing your mind was hypocritical and that was bad - once you've made your mind up on a thing you have to stick with it! Is or was that a great belief to have?
