Dressember uses fashion to advocate for women who have been exploited for their femininity. Dressember raised $165,000.00 in 2013 and 100% of the funds went directly to International Justice Mission. As women take on the creative challenge of wearing a dress for the 31 days of December, they are advocating for the inherent dignity of all women. We spoke with Michelle Quiles, Sr. Dir. of Marketing & Strategy at International Justice Mission, to find out how their alignment with Dressember has impacted International Justice Mission's plight to fight the exploitation of women across the world. Her work has been featured in several magazines and she has tons of press about her work. When you see her illustrations like her depiction of Alexander McQueens collections you will clearly know why. We discuss her interpretation of Henry Rooseau's "The Dream", the challenges and rewards of being a Fashion Illustrator, and why her work has an ethereal and romantic feeling. Latif Seesit is the Creator/Graphic Designer of WisdomATL©. He started Wisdom in his 10th grade year in high school, around the same time he started to seek deeper knowledge than what was being force fed to him through textbooks. He wanted to manifest a movement which influenced having an open mind and keeping a positive outlook on life, while also combining his passion for art and design. So he created a culture around a clothing line called Wisdom. He defines wisdom as gaining knowledge through experience, being conscious and aware of oneself and knowing your true potential. Dayna Melton is an Atlanta native who attended Kennesaw State University for her Bachelors in Fine Arts degree with a concentration on drawing and painting. After college she started her own small business called Foxboxes wth her best friend and business partner, Bethany Putnam. Between 2009-20012 Dayna was very active in the arts community showing her work and working at galleries in Atlanta where she met many artits and gained valuable experience in the crative community. In 2013 she moved to the greater Los Angeles area to expand on her company and discovered RAW Artists. After participating in a showcase as a vendor and experiencing a very successful show, she quickly after that joined the team as a Showcase Director where she currently runs the Columbus, OH and Atlanta, GA chapters and still actively runs her own craft company with her partners from across the country. www.rawartists.org/atlanta/exposure
