Ep. 24 - 2018.01.17 - The NFL is Down to it's Final Four, and the Giants ain't one of them

1/19/2018
If I would've told you at the start of the season that the Jaguars, Vikings, and Eagles would be playing on championship Sunday, you would've thought I was crazy, but here we are. In episode 24, Pete Solari examines Sunday's two big games, and explains exactly why the Jaguars have a puncher's chance in New England, and why he's reluctantly pulling for the Vikings to become the first NFL team to play a Super Bowl on their home field. Also, Pete keeps it local, and breaks down the New York Giants' circus, including the #2 overall pick, and why Penn State's Saquon Barkley (or any running back) could be a big mistake there! Finally, Pete discusses Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmer, who is expected to be named the Giants' next coach as soon as Minnesota's season ends. Is he the most exciting guy out there? No! But that doesn't mean Giants fans shouldn't be optimistic about their future! All this and much more on episode 24 of For Pete's Sake, from KMAZ Radio!

Ep. 023 - The Futures of the Saints, Chiefs, and Giants

1/8/2018
It's a new year and with the holidays and the Wild Card playoffs behind us, Pete Solari looks back at this past weekend's action, more specifically, two teams on very different paths: the Chiefs who suffered another heartbreak, and the Saints who could be on their way to the Super Bowl. Also, Pete examines the circus that is the New York Football Giants. With a new GM in a place, a new head coach on his way, and the #2 overall pick in April's draft, Giants fans should be excited and optimistic, but are they? And with the Divisional playoffs upon us, Pete looks ahead to this weekend's action and gives you his picks for all the games. All this and so much more on episode 23 of For Pete's Sake

Ep. 022 - 2017.12.02 - With Eli on the Bench, the Giants are a Mess. Are the Yankees next?

12/3/2017
In episode 22, Pete Solari discusses the Giants' benching of Eli, and how truly egregious it is that a clueless coach like Ben McAdoo was given the green light to push a New York legend out the door. And with all of the team's problems, how is it that general manager Jerry Reese never bears any responsibility. Reese has now pushed the team's Hall of Fame QB out the door, less than two years after pushing the team's Hall of Fame coach, Tom Coughlin, out that same door. Coughlin meant more to the franchise than anyone in the organization knew, and now they're learning the hard lesson that relieving him of his duties was a massive mistake. Also, the Yankees have a new manager: Aaron Bleeping Boone! Having seen the nosedive the Giants have taken since firing Coughlin, Pete draws a parallel to the Yankees and their current managerial situation. Joe Girardi had the Bronx Bombers on the cusp of the World Series, and got rewarded with his walking papers. After interviewing a handful of candidates, none of whom are anywhere near as accomplished as Girardi, the Yankees settled on a broadcaster with no coaching experience. Are they destined to follow the same path the Giants find themselves on now? Pete Solari discusses all this and more on episode 22 of For Pete's Sake.

Ep. 021 - 2017.11.01 - The NFL Protest are Simply Disingenuous

11/1/2017
After a few weeks off, For Pete's Sake returned to MESN Radio on November 1st. In episode 21, Pete Solari discusses the ongoing protests around the NFL. At this point, the players are just being disingenuous. Do the Houston Texans really expect us to believe that, A)they took team owner Bob McNair's "inmates running the prison" comments literally, and B) they were offended by them? As NFL players continue to drift further away from reality, it's really no wonder why the league's popularity (and TV ratings) are plummeting. Furthermore, why is the media being complicit in furthering the players' bogus narrative? Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was caught flat-out lying about treatment he received from Las Vegas police. So why isn't the mainstream media telling you this, and why are they lauding Bennett as a hero, instead of accurately labeling him a fraud? And coming off the bye-week, the New York Giants return in week 9 to host the Rams. But who are they kidding? The season is over, and the team would be better-off vying for a top-5 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. With this in mind, the New York sports media can't refrain from blaming Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. for all the team's problems. Pete explains how truly misguided this line of thinking is, as holes on the Giants' offensive line (and the refusal of those inside and outside of the organization to acknowledge as much) has been hindering the team for years.

Ep. 20 - 2017.10.11 - The NFL Continues to Take a Hit

10/16/2017
It's episode 20 of For Pete's Sake! We're now five weeks into the NFL season and the league, and the sport, continue to see their favorability, popularity, and television ratings taking a nosedive, thanks to the increasingly unpopular national anthem protests. Commissioner Goodell and the league owners want nothing more than this story to just go away, but a few voices in the media, like Mike Wilbon, won't allow that to happen. Pete Solari takes Wilbon to task for calling Jerry Jones, and essentially every employer in America, "slave drivers." Also, the New York Giants are 0-5 and already looking ahead to the draft. Unfortunately, for some, this means looking for QB Eli Manning's replacement, even though the team has a plethora of other holes to fill. And with the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians getting ready for a deciding game 5 of the ALDS, Pete looks back over the last 14 months, and the amazing transformation the Yankees have made. Last July, they were an old, broken-down team with the likes of Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixera, and Carlos Beltran. Fast forward to today, and they're a young, fun group with a very bright future. How did Brian Cashman pull this off so quickly? Pete discusses all this and more in episode 20 of "For Pete's Sake" from MESN Radio.

Ep. 019 - 2017.10.04 - The NFL is Running for the Hills

10/10/2017
We're a quarter of the way through the 2017 NFL season, and one thing is certain: the NFL is scared! A few weeks ago, Colin Kaepernick's anthem protest was virtually dead. Then President Trump threw gas on the fire. Was it stupid? Sure. Unproductive? Absolutely. But make no mistake about it. It was a big win for the President, and a loss for the league. As it turns out, not crapping all over America, is a pretty popular position with Americans. With their popularity sagging and their TV ratings in a nosedive, the NFL is desperately trying to save face by distancing themselves from the controversy. There's just one problem: An agenda-driven sports media, clinging to a debunked narrative. Pete Solari discusses all of this in episode 19 of For Pete's Sake, from MESN Radio.
