Bruce Cassidy has said he will change the mentality on offense moving forward. He wants to avoid VGK having droughts like they did in the playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers. The gameplan, he said, is to get more pucks going to the net. He has said the move is "personnel driven" so VGK is expected to moves to add scoring in the off-season. As the Golden Knights cleaned out their lockers and met with the media last week. there was one prevailing theme: There will be changes to to the VGK roster. Kelly McCrimmon hinted at changes. Bruce Cassidy discussed changes VGK's mindset to attack the net more and that would take personnel changes. Players echoed the same sentiments feeling that the Front Office would add to a competitive roster. McCrimmon said the first order of business in the off-season is to work on extending Jack Eichel's contract. Eichel could command in the $13-million plus range. He will also be looking for a long-term contract. And we rank the Final Four teams in the conference finals.

The Golden Knights went two games and 127 minutes without scoring a goal in Games 4 and 5 and they lost to the Oilers in five games. Stuart Skinner was in a zone in those two games - stopping every shot that came his way. VGK played without Captain Mark Stone and Brandan Saad in Game 5. There were other injury concerns for VGK. We discuss the turning point of the series and what our expectations were for the Golden Knights this past season.

VGK is 3-5 in elimination games in its short franchise history. The Golden Knights are hoping to force the series back to Edmonton for Game 6 Friday. Their backs are against the wall and VGK would have to win three straight games to make it into a Conference Championship. Bruce Cassidy says it's cliche, but he said the approach is one game at a time. Is VGK too beaten down to beat the Oilers and avoid a handshake line on home ice Wednesday? The Oilers won a physical battle in Game 4 and the Golden Knights were already smarting on the injury front heading into the loss. VGK needs to score an early goal - or at least a goal - to gain its confidence back after being shutout by Stuart Skinner. We discuss whether VGK will make any lineup changes. The Golden Knights got bum rushed in Game 4. The Oilers mucked up the game early and the result was a Zach Whitecloud turnover that led to the first of two Adam Henrique goals just 1:27 into the contest. There we goalie collisions. And, there was even a full on fight between the Golden Knights Nic Hague and the Oilers Trent Frederic. Henrique had a second goal later in the period. Evander Kane scored the third goal. We ask why VGK was not prepared for Game 4. And, we talk about injury concerns for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights have dug an 0-2 hole heading to Edmonton for Game 3 Saturday. Bruce Cassidy, his team and VGK fans are still fired up over a non-call in overtime Thursday night that they felt cost the Golden Knights the game. Late in the first overtime period, VGK's Brayden McNabb was checked hard into the boards by Viktor Arvidsson who's stick wound up in the "can opener" position between McNabb's legs. McNabb crashed into the boards and might have sustained a shoulder injury. He came off the ice and went down the tunnel immediately. VGK's Mark Stone called the play dangerous and dirty. Cassidy said the ref was there on the play and didn't make the call. Moments later Leon Draisaitl finished off a 2-on-1 and the Oilers won their second game in Las Vegas to open the series. VGK could also play Game 3 without Nic Roy who lost his cool and crosschecked Trent Frederic in the face. It cost Roy a major and a game misconduct. The Golden Knights will attempt to bounce back in Game 2 Thursday night. The Oilers wrested home ice in the best-of-seven series by winning the opening game 4-2. Bruce Cassidy went back to his original lines at practice Wednesday. Ivan Barbeshev will replace William Karlsson on the top line. Cassidy said VGK needs to finish its forechecks and neutralize the Oilers from entering the offensive zone. Cassidy said there was a lot clean up after Game 1. Cassidy also wants more shots on goal for the Golden Knights after having only 17 shots on net in the opener, including only one SOG in the opening loss. The Golden Knights were 26-0 when having multi-goal leads in the playoffs before Tuesday night. That perfect record is no longer intact, as the Edmonton Oilers took the opening game of the second round series 4-2. Mark Stone scored twice in the first nine minutes of the game, then VGK went quiet. In fact, the Golden Knights had just one shot on net in the second period, thanks to Kaedan Korczak's wrister. Korczak was a last-minute replacement for Alex Pietrangelo, who was taken ill. The Oilers outscored VGK 3-0 in the final period, starting with Leon Draisaitl's goal off Adin Hill's back. We talked about VGK's line shuffling and guess what Bruce Cassidy will counter with in Game 2. And Calvin Pickard outplayed Adin Hill in net Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights prepared for the opening game of round two with some line changes. The biggest surprise was seeing Keegan Kolesar skating on the second line with Tomas Hertl and Brandon Saad. Victor Olafsson takes his place on the fourth line. We discuss why that move might have been made, with Pavel Dorofeyev still listed as day-to-day. We discuss how the lines match up for both teams. On paper, the matchup is even. We discuss some keys to victory for VGK. We talk about the controversy around ticket prices rising more than 50% from the first to second round. The Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers each rallied in their opening round series to advance to Round Two. VGK was down 2-1 against the Wild, the Oilers trailed the Kings 2-0. One of the keys in the second round could be whichever team jumps out to the early lead in the series. We will see a lot of adjustments early in the series too. The Golden Knights fought off the Minnesota Wild 3-2 Thursday night to close out the best-of-seven series in six games. Jack Eichel and Mark Stone each had two points in the win and improved as the series went on.VGK got on the board early, at the 3:30 mark as Shea Theodore potted a goal to make it 1-0 Golden Knights. Ryan Hartman tied the game with a goal with only :04 remaining in the period. Eichel scored the only goal of the second period. Stone made the score 3-1 in the third, but Hartman had a quick answer.
