The Minnesota Wild saw their season come to an end after a 3-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6. The Wild fell 4-2 in the series, and for the 3rd straight year lost a series in 6 after taking a 2-1 lead. The Wild fell behind 1-0 on a Power Play goal from Shea Theodore. Ryan Hartman scored his first goal of the series with 4 seconds left in the 1st to tie the game at 1. Jack Eichel scored in the 2nd to make it 2-1 Vegas. Mark Stone scored in the 3rd period to make it 3-1, before Ryan Hartman scored to cut it to 3-2 with 3:30 remaining. The Wild could not muster the tying goal despite a flurry of chances with the net empty. The Wild went 3/4 on the Penalty Kill and 0/2 on the Power Play. Filip Gustavsson stopped 20 of 23 shots in net for the Wild, and was mostly tremendous all series long. Marc-Andre Fleury waved to the crowd before departing the ice in his final NHL game. The Minnesota Wild were pushed to the brink of elimination after losing Game 5 in Vegas 3-2 in Overtime. The Wild had what looked like the go ahead goal from Ryan Hartman with 1:15 remaining in the 3rd period, but after a review for a kicking motion, Vegas challenged for offsides and it was determined that Gustav Nyquist came in offsides and the goal was waived off. In the overtime period the Golden Knights got the outright win on a goal by Jack Eichel. The Wild trailed 1-0 after a shorthanded goal by the Golden Knights in the 1st period before Kirill Kaprizov scored his 5th goal of the series to tie the score at 1-1. The Golden Knights took a 2-1 lead later in the 1st on Mark Stone's 1st goal of the series and held that lead until Matt Boldy scored his 5th goal of the series to tie the score in the 3rd. Brett Howden scored 4 minutes into OT to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 series lead and a chance to close the Wild out in 6 on Thursday. The Minnesota Wild welcomed the home crowd to the playoffs with a 5-2 win over Vegas in Game 3 of their opening round series with the Golden Knights. The Wild got the scoring started on a Power Play goal from Kirill Kaprizov to make it 1-0 with 3 minutes gone in the 1st. Marco Rossi scored his 1st goal of the postseason minutes later to make it 2-0. The Golden Knights got one back to make it 2-1 after 1. The Wild would add to the lead as Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov both scored in the 2nd to make it 4-1. Adin Hill was done for the game after 2 periods, and Reilly Smith scored a shorthanded goal to make it 4-2, but Marcus Foligno scored an empty net goal to seal the scoring. Filip Gustavsson was sensational, stopping 30 of 32 shots for the win, the Wild Penalty Kill held the Golden Knights off the board (except for a shorthanded goal) and the Wild once again held Jack Eichel and Mark Stone off the board. The Wild will host Vegas again in Game 4 at the Xcel Energy Center on Saturday at 3pm.
