Notre Dame Rewind and Big Ten Results
9/26/2023
Ohio State survived a difficult road test in a tough environment with Saturday’s 17-14 win at Notre Dame at literally the last second. The Buckeyes may have taken six years off our lives in that nailbiter that didn’t seem to need to be one for much of the game, but at least the team emerged with its undefeated record intact. It was a fantastic growing experience for quarterback Kyle McCord, who put on his big boy pants and led the team down the field for a clutch winning touchdown on the road, converting multiple gotta-have-it plays on the final drive.
We break down a win to remember with all of the key plays, big performances, and curious coaching decisions (from both sides) that contributed to the outcome of this game. We also look back to see how our predictions and picks to click made out.
Following our lengthy discussion of an absurdly entertaining Top 10 matchup, we discuss how the rest of the Big Ten teams made out over the weekend. There were some surprising scores around the league, but perhaps none bigger than Minnesota blowing a three-touchdown lead against Northwestern. Indiana got a scare but prevailed, and Iowa didn’t show up in Happy Valley against what had previously been a vulnerable-looking Penn State squad. And Maryland is off to a great start, while Michigan State is in free fall.

Indiana Rewind and Youngstown State Preview
9/5/2023
The Buckeyes’ 2023 season is underway. Although it began in underwhelming fashion, it’s the first outing, on the road, with a new quarterback and a mostly new offensive line. It was never going to look crisp right out of the box. Far be it from us to tell you not to panic — you may do so if you wish; that’s your prerogative — but we simply have more things we’ll be keeping an eye on as the season moves forward.
We broke down Ohio State’s 20-point win at Bloomington, including the key plays, players, and mistakes, and checked back on our score predictions and picks to click to see how we did. It was the first game for everyone, so we haven’t quite zeroed in on this team yet.
Joel Whetzel from The Vindicator and Tribune Chronicle was our guest this week. He popped on with us to give us the scoop on Ohio State’s opponent this Saturday, the Penguins of Youngstown State University. What are the Penguins good and bad at? Who are the players to watch? What style can we expect? These questions get answered expertly by Joel and we appreciate his time.
Finally, we looked ahead to Saturday and came up with our score predictions and our picks to click for this Saturday’s matchup. Will the Penguins get as many stops on defense as the Hoosiers did? That’s not what we’re expecting. We have similar ideas to how this game will unfold to what our guest described.
We’ll be back next week to dissect Ohio State’s home opener against Youngstown State and look ahead to a matchup with Western Kentucky.
In fact, we’ll be here with you every week from now until the end of the 2023 Ohio State football season. We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email.

Camp News & Indiana Preview
8/29/2023
It’s game week at last and we’re ready to go after seeing some Week 0 games this past Saturday. The Buckeyes are going through their final preparations for the upcoming season and it starts with a Big Ten East showdown in Bloomington this Saturday.
We begin the show with some news, including the naming of Ted Carter as the next president of The Ohio State University. That was the first domino that needed to fall in order to get a new athletic director hired to replace Gene Smith in the position next year.
Ohio State also has a new stadium voice. We touched on that briefly before getting into the latest group of official Buckeyes who saw their black stripes removed from their helmets within the last week. These are guys who are showing that they came to Columbus to put in the work and we love to see it.
Colin Lavery from Crimson Quarry then jumps on with us to tell us about the 2023 Indiana Hoosiers, and to say that he’s not feeling optimistic about his team’s upcoming season might be an understatement. Tom Allen refuses to name his starting quarterback and there are 40 new faces on the Indiana roster, which could make for a bumpy 2023 season for fans of the Hoosiers.
Finally, we dive into our picks to click for Saturday and make our first score predictions of the new college football season. Both of us feel we’re erring on the conservative side as the Buckeyes go on the road with a new signal caller. The game might start a little sluggishly for Ohio State, but we expect the Bucks to get stronger as the game goes on.
We’ll be here with you every week from now until the end of the 2023 Ohio State football season. We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions by sending us an email.

Captains, More Black Stripes, and B1G East Predictions
8/22/2023
There’s always so much news to get to as the season’s about to start. With so much to discuss, we started this week’s show with the bad news first. Two Buckeyes will not see the field in 2023 — tight end Bennett Christian, because of testing positive for a banned substance, and linebacker Kourt Williams II, with torn ACL. We wish both players the best of luck in getting back on the field.
In better news, Ohio State named its 2023 captains, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the choices. We discussed why Cade Stover, Tommy Eichenberg, and Xavier Johnson were the perfect choices and why it’s good to put the rotating captain nonsense in the rearview mirror.
Johnson also earned the right to wear the Block O jersey this upcoming season, and that was also the perfect choice. The only thing that might be more appropriate is if they let him wear an X on his jersey.
There was a slew of new black stripe removals, including several freshman receivers. Brian Hartline just keeps getting standout talent.
As an aside, we discuss OSU commit Air Noland’s first game of the season in a big early-season matchup and Michael gives an unscientific scouting report.
Finally, we made our predictions for how the Big Ten East will shake out by the end of the 2023 season. While we were in lockstep a week ago with our B1G West picks, there were multiple variations this week that should make things interesting as we watch how the season unfolds. Ohio State fans will be rooting for Chip to be more correct than Michael on this one.
