This week we put the spotlight on netball, as the new national domestic season begins in the wake of a Silver Ferns decline that led to the team's first failure to win a Commonwealth Games medal. We also look at the sale of the Warriors finally being completed, New Zealand Cricket eyeing a potential return to Pakistan for the Black Caps and some international reaction to golfer Lydia Ko's return to title success.

The focus returns to rugby, with the CEO of the battling Blues facing the music, New Zealand Rugby negotiating a request from Hurricances captain Brad Shields to play for England, and All Blacks coach Steve Hansen offering his thoughts after the team's latest training camp. We also hear from New Zealand netball coach Noeline Taurua on the state of the game in this country, and Paralympic swimming champion Sophie Pascoe talks about shifting her training base offshore.

This week we get an internal and external view on the Silver Ferns dismal display at the Commonwealth Games. There were, however, many great successes for Kiwi athletes on the Golf Coast and we hear from squash star Joelle King, who had had little time to bask in the glory of her three-medal haul. We also reflect on the life of New Zealand speedway legend Ivan Mauger and Nelson cyclist George Bennett tells us about a very hairy moment he had in the Italian Alps this week.

It's all things Commonwealth Games again this week, as we reflect on what has been has been a successful and, at times, controversial week for New Zealand athletes on the Gold Coast. With track cycling, swimming, squash, weightlifting, shot put, hammer throw and mountain-biking all contributing, the Kiwi team has lifted their tally of gold medals into double figures. It's likely they won't be done there, with plenty more chances to add to that tally during the final few days of the Games....

It was a great start for the New Zealand team and the expectation is that the medals will continue to come and the New Zealand national anthem will be regularly heard.
