Internationally renowned Kenyan writer and gay rights activist Binyavanga Wainaina has passed on aged 48. The author who also championed African literature through the Kwani Trust he founded with other writers died after a short illness in Nairobi. He won the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2002. DW’s Africa literature expert Wanjiku Mwaura says his legacy will live on despite his death.
