Episode 21: Aviation Engineering Opportunities (Guest Mike Bonto)

2/1/2022
Welcome to Ep 21 of Radwell Automation Nation. In this episode, we are going to talk about something that recently came across my radar as an interesting topic. I spoke to Rob about it and we figured out listeners might find the topic interesting as well. So here we are. Our guest in this episode is Michael Bonto and our topic is aviation opportunities for engineers. Let’s give Mike a proper introduction. Ever since he can remember, Mike’s been fascinated by any type of aircraft or anything aerospace related. In 1987, he took his first intro ride in a single engine two seat airplane, which led to him eventually earning his pilot certificate and ratings. Since then, he has always been involved in aviation directly or indirectly. It has taken him through many wonderful experiences, from meeting and interacting with aviation professionals, private pilots, and fun flights to running a flying club and flying school. Mike currently runs a program for Innovation Engineering in Aeronautics. The program is South Jersey Aero Foundation. The goal of this program is to inspire the further pursuit of a career in aviation and aeronautical engineering while developing the necessary foundation of technological and analytical skills. This will be achieved through the completion of small projects designed to introduce current technologies that are directly applicable to problems in aviation. If anyone is qualified to discuss opportunities for engineers in the aviation field, it’s definitely Mike Bonto. Episode 20: Field Service Stories

1/2/2022
Rob and I were talking recently about the variety of products and service Radwell offers and it got me thinking. The basis of everything we do is to keep our customers operations running. We offer a ton of products and services with that one purpose in mind. One of those offerings is field service engineering. Field Service Engineering is when Radwell engineers and repair technicians go onsite at a customer’s manufacturing facility to help them troubleshoot through issues. Now, we don’t like to brag, but we do want to give proper credit to the amazing repair and engineering teams we have at Radwell. They navigate all kinds of issues with all kinds of parts and manufacturers successfully. We thought it might be interesting to have a chat with two of those amazing people. The two we are speaking with in this episode are from our Engineering Dept at Radwell headquarters in NJ. They have often been tasked to head out to customer locations on behalf of Radwell and help in whatever way they can. Randy Bracy is Director of Engineering at Radwell. He has been with the company for 11 years and he is one of those people that can literally fix anything. It’s just the way his brain works. Brandon Buehler is Engineering Production Manager. He has been with Radwell for 13 years. He is also a wizard when it comes to the ins and outs of industrial automation parts and products. He is also a repair genius with a natural ability to fix mechanical and electronic things. In this episode, Randy and Brandon give us a behind the scenes look at some stories from their time working on field service for customers. Episode 19: Managing Supply Chain Struggles (Guest Marcin Krzączkowski)

12/1/2021
Welcome to Ep 19 of Radwell Automation Nation. In this episode we have a special guest connecting with us all the way from Poland. Our guest is Marcin Krzączkowski, founder of Automa.Net. He will introduce us to some market insights and supply chain insights gained from his platform. Automa.Net was started at the same time when many companies started to face global supply chain problems and ever-increasing lead time and shortages. We’ll be discussing ways to manage supply chain struggles. Marcin graduated both from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore before making his strides in business and technology. After successfully launching and running software house skydigo.com, he started a career in building products for industrial markets. In 2018, he co-founded FluidPowerNet, a marketplace platform for hydraulic and pneumatic companies that integrated hundreds of distributors and trade companies worldwide. Having a team of people experienced in designing, developing and launching digital products, he decided to face another challenge on the market. After many hours spent on meetings - his claims exceeding 100 - with industrial automation professionals, he decided to launch a platform that would help companies operating in this dynamic sector. Five months of hard work later and the platform launched with its official opening taking place on March 1 2021. Automa.Net makes it easier to search through hundreds of warehouses and web storefronts with industrial automation products - all in one place. In this episode, Marcin shares his knowledge and experience with supply chain management and gives insights into how to positive impact your supply chain moving forward. Episode 15: Is Manufacturing the Right Career Path? (Guests Dan Bigger and Tyler Troyano)

6/24/2021
After graduation from high school, It’s time for real life decisions to be made. Many think that college is the inevitable path but trade school also offers career options. Though both college and trade school have their merits and their drawbacks, the real food for thought is whether a career in manufacturing might be the right move. The goal of both college and trade school is the same: to receive an education that leads to a career. Although college allows for exploring a range of options along with activities and community, trade school offers skill-based learning with solid job opportunities. Not only will trade school offer job opportunities but also less debt upon completion. In this episode we are going to discuss whether manufacturing might be the right career move for those entering the workforce. Today, jobs in manufacturing are in demand. The manufacturing industry is dealing with a skills gap. Left unabated, the manufacturing skills gap — which is now anticipated to leave 2.1 million jobs unfilled by 2030 — could cost the U.S. economy as much as $1 trillion. The skills gap in manufacturing is real. What is the skills gap? The “skills gap” is a gap between the skills existing within the workforce and the skills demanded by the labor market. Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute’s report, “Creating pathways for tomorrow’s workforce today: Beyond reskilling in manufacturing,” explores new and prevailing contributors to the skills gap and outlines important steps manufacturers can take to attract and retain skilled and diverse workers, especially women and underrepresented minorities (URMs). Given this information, should those entering the workforce not assume that college is the only answer for a successful career path? Could manufacturing be the right career path? In this episode, Julie and Rob will be discussing this topic with Manufacturing Expert, Dan Bigger and HR Recruiter, Tyler Troyano. Episode 14: What You Need to Know About VMI

5/27/2021
In this episode co-hosts Rob and Julie discuss what you need to know about Vendor Managed Inventory or VMI for short. What Is Vendor Managed Inventory? Vendor Managed Inventory is a supply chain agreement where vendors or suppliers manage, maintain, and optimize their inventory while it’s in the possession of a buyer. In other words, it’s an inventory management system where inventory is replaced for the buyer or retailer without them having to initiate a purchase order. The buyer or retailer shares their inventory data with a vendor and the vendor determines order size and frequency. Fortunately Rob is a bit of an expert on this topic and shares some insights from his experiences. If you think VMI IS a good fit for your organization, we would love to connect you to our team at Radwell who can assist you. Just email automationnation@Radwell.com and we will get you connected with the right people to help you get started.
