The mother of a 5-year-old girl brutally mauled last year by a pit bull has filed a lawsuit against the agency and the animal control officer responsible for investigating bite cases.
At least three individuals who live near the victim's home called 911 after spotting Sutton there. The first call came in at 7:38 p.m. and the exchanges between callers and dispatchers became increasingly heated as they waited for law enforcement to arrive.
“I thought to myself, ‘I know I closed that about two hours ago,’” he said. “I went over and took a look and here I see this man, his back to the wall like he’s trying to not let me see him... It shocked me that there was actually someone there.”

A man's fatal shooting of a neighbor in April was justified, the State Attorney's Office announced.
At 12:41 a.m. April 1, Donald Hodges fatally shot his neighbor Danny King in a fight on his property on Green Road in Baker. Earlier in the day, King, a known methamphetamine user and convicted felon, had been arguing with two women — Sara King, who he lived with, and Terri Smith, who was at his house that day — according to the State Attorney's Office.
