Dr. Amie Harwick was murdered by her long-term stalker on Valentine's Day

2/13/2025
Skip the intro: (3:19) Dr. Amie Harwick was an established marriage, family and sexuality specialist. She worked in Los Angeles and was highly respected in her field. In 2009, Amie began dating a man named Gareth Pursehouse. After 18 months, things turned sour and they broke up. Except, Gareth could not accept the change. He was violent towards Amie and stalked her, forcing her to take out multiple protective orders. Amie managed to distance herself from Gareth over the following years. In January 2020, the two had a chance meeting at a public event that Amie was attending and Gareth was working at. This meeting caused Gareth to fly into a rage which terrified Amie. On Valentine’s Day 2020, Amie attended a burlesque show with her friends. Gareth waited until she left and he broke into her home. He lay in her bed and waited for. When Amie arrived home, she was brutally attacked by Gareth and he threw her off a balcony, leaving her to die. Gareth would go to trial for Amie’s murder and he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. There have also been some big updates in the ‘suicide’ of Ellen Greenberg. The medical examiner who originally titled Ellen’s death a suicide has now backtracked. "It is my professional opinion Ellen's manner of death should be designated as something other than suicide," Dr Marlon Osbourne said. The Abduction & Murder of Daniel Morcombe

2/6/2025
Timestamps (2:00) - Tracey Nix Updates (10:36) - Daniel Morcombe In December 2003, Australian teen Daniel Morcombe (13) had saved up some money and decided to take the bus to a shopping center to buy Christmas gifts for his family. Daniel walked to a nearby bus stop. He attempted to flag down a bus, but the driver was unable to stop due to mechanical issues with the vehicle. A second bus followed behind very shortly. Daniel was no longer at the bus stop and was never seen alive again. The investigation into Daniel’s disappearance was one of the largest ever seen in Australia. At one stage, there was a reward of $1m offered in the case. In 2011, a sex offender named Brett Peter Cowan was arrested and charged with Daniel’s murder. Cowan had offered Daniel a lift to the shopping centre after the bus failed to stop. Cowan murdered Daniel within an hour of his abduction. Accident or Murder? | Grandmother Tracey Nix

1/30/2025
Skip the intro chat: (7:36) Tracey Nix fell asleep while she was meant to be caring for her grandson Ezra, who was 16 months old. Ezra got out of the home and went to a pond on the family property. He ended up drowning and passing away. An investigation was conducted and no charges were laid against Tracey. In November 2022, Tracey was caring for another grandchild, Uriel, who was 7 months old. Tracey took the baby to a restaurant for lunch and then drove her home. Instead of taking the baby into the home, Tracey left her in the vehicle and went inside to play the piano. She insists that she ‘just forgot’ that the baby was in the vehicle. Uriel would pass away from hyperthermia after being left in the car in 90 degree temperatures. Tracey was recently taken to trial for Uriel’s death. Ezra’s death was not allowed to be discussed during proceedings. Tracey has been found not guilty of the manslaughter of Uriel but has been convicted on a lesser charge. Moms Who Murder | Jessica Chandler & Lacey Spears

1/16/2025
Timestamp to skip the intro - (7:38) In October 2024, a 911 call was placed from the home of Tennessee woman Jennifer Chandler. When authorities arrived, they found her two children, aged 4 and 1, unresponsive. Both children were declared dead at the scene. When authorities first investigated, it was determined that Jennifer had likely poisoned her children before making a superficial attempt to take her own life. Authorities initially believed this as empty medication bottles were found at the scene. This case is unfolding in the courts at the moment and we have since learned that Jennifer actually smothered her children with a Lilo and Stitch blanket. Lacey Spears lived an unusual and tumultuous life. Growing up, she told stories about abuse, eating disorders and abortion. None of which have been proven to be true. Lacey gave birth to a son, Garnett, in 2014. She immediately made up lies about Garnett’s father and started documenting her sons ‘medical issues’ online. Lacey insisted that Garnett have a feeding tube placed because he was unable to tolerate standard feeding. Nurses were skeptical as they were able to feed the baby without any issues. When Garnett was five, he ended up being airlifted to hospital. His sodium levels were so high that a doctor confronted his mother about the situation. Garnett passed away days later and a police investigation began. Lacey was convicted of murdering her son by injecting him with ultra levels of sodium. Authorities believe she suffers from Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Poisoning murders are a very rare occurrence. This method accounts for just under one-half of one percent of murders. They Almost Got Away With It (Thanks to the Alligators) | The Murder of Mike Williams

1/9/2025
Timestamps: (3:33) - Updates (Liam Payne arrests, Gypsy Rose had a baby) (14:09) - The Murder of Mike Williams In 2000, Florida man Mike Williams seemed to have it all. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Denise, and they had a beautiful daughter together. Mike was successful in his career and enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting. One early morning in December 2000, Mike allegedly took his boat and went hunting on Lake Seminole. Denise raised the alarm when he did not return by noon. The search for Mike began, and ran for months. One theory was that Mike had been injured in a boating accident, fallen overboard and drowned. It was expected that his remains would eventually surface in the lake. They didn’t. Just months after he disappeared, Denise petitioned to have Mike declared dead so that she could claim almost $2m in life insurance. A judge agreed, despite the usual waiting period in Florida for someone to be declared dead being five years. Five years after Mike vanished, Denise married his best friend (and life insurance salesman) Brian Winchester. Their marriage was tumultuous and would eventually end in divorce. After their marriage fell apart, the truth came out. Brian and Denise had been having an affair and they worked together to kill Mike. His remains were found in 2017. Tragedy on the Taconic | The Diane Schuler Wrong-Way Crash

11/21/2024
Jump ahead using timestamps (12:24) - Madeline Kingsbury Update (13:43) - Diane Schuler In 2009, Diane Schuler was returning to her New York home after a camping trip with five young children in the minivan she was driving - her two children and three nieces. She took the kids to McDonalds for breakfast and witnesses said the family seemed fine and nothing was amiss. Diane made another stop at a gas station looking for a specific over-the-counter pain medication, but the store didn't carry it. After this, Diane pulled over multiple times and was seen hunched over appearing sick outside of the vehicle. One of her nieces called their father and said, ‘There’s something wrong with Aunt Diane.’ Family members told Diane to stay where she was, but Diane continued the drive regardless. She drove the wrong way onto the busy Taconic State Parkway and struck another vehicle head-on at a high rate of speed. The crash became known as the worst fatal motor vehicle accident in Westchester County. 8 people were killed, including Diane, her daughter and all of her nieces. An empty bottle of vodka was found in the wreckage of the vehicle and Diane’s BAC was reported to be 0.19%. She also had high levels of THC in her system and was suspected to have smoked marijuana as recently as 15 minutes prior to the collision. Diane’s husband remains adamant that driving under the influence is not what caused the accident and believes Diane suffered a medical emergency. Join us on Patreon for exclusive, ad-free content. She fled the home and called 911 from her vehicle. Leslie and Adriane would be found brutally murdered in an upstairs bedroom. The pool of blood at the scene was said to be inches deep. Nurses Who Murder | Heather Pressdee & Megan Haines

10/17/2024
Timestamps According to the National Library of Medicine, it is estimated that an average of 35 Americans are killed by healthcare workers per year. The true numbers are likely higher, given that these crimes are often missed for years. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss two different cases where nurses have been convicted of purposely murdering their patients with insulin. Pennsylvania nurse Heather Pressdee gave "lethal and potentially lethal doses of insulin" to at least 22 of her patients. Seventeen of the patients "died very soon" or "sometime later" after receiving the insulin doses. Heather ended up taking a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. In 2024, she was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for the murders. She was also ordered to subsequently serve another 380 to 760 years in prison for the attempted murders. Australian nurse Megan Haines had many complaints made against her during her nursing career. It was alleged that she was rude to patients and that she stole from them. At one point, she had her nursing license suspended. Megan was reprimanded and was eventually allowed to nurse again. While working a night shift in May 2014, she was informed that three patients had made complaints against her and that she would be investigated. That night, Megan would inject two of the patients who complained about her with insulin. She was arrested and charged with the murders and is currently serving a prison term - she will be eligible for parole in 2041.
