Our friend Beck joins us to talk about some of our favorite songs. We discuss each other's picks and defend our own choices. This was way harder than we thought it would be! Silliness happens, way less singing than there should have been, and lots of laughing between these old friends. You can follow along with our picks on our Apple Music and Spotify playlists, both called Curio Podcast favorites.
An update on the immigrant children crisis. At the time of recording, we had no idea that the government has almost 13,000 children in detention. The Trump administration is now trying to quietly expand the program, making tent cities larger, and making their inhumane policies law. The cruelty cannot continue. Recorded on 9/11/18, we talk about our memories of 9/11 and the impact on our lives.
The Curios dive into the thinking behind overthinking. We really thought this one out. We think you'll enjoy it. Think. Kim offers several suggestions and solutions for organizing and calming the active mind. Also, Ella reads an original poem.
Join us for a Curio field trip to the old Griffith Park Zoo. Get a taste for Southern California's freeway culture as drivers swerve near us, staring at their phones. Yay! The zoo itself was opened in 1912 and closed in 1966 when the new LA Zoo was complete. Our addled imaginations declared it haunted, although we didn't see any ghost giraffes. If you're ever in Los Angeles you should check out this interesting part of LA history.
This episode we have a very special guest, our friend Beck. We discuss the new Religious Liberty Task Force and the implications of religion mixed with authoritarianism. Some reminiscing happens, curiosity about our very existence, talk about the Boy Scouts, and of course, singing.
A continuation from Potcast Alpha ep7, Cass and Kim get into some heavy topics with Quinn, our handsome engineer. We sing, talk about our own anxieties/mental health and dig into "fake news". Available on all podcast platforms, porches and lanais.
Join Cass and Kimbee on a journey through time and space. Our inaugural poTcast wherein we talk and laugh and sing a little. We get into the prohibition of CBD and what that means for businesses. We get into our own cannabis origin stories as well as why we partake. Fair warning - we get a little silly, you will hear people peeing in the background, for some reason there's a 30 second moment of silence in the beginning (just hit that forward30), Ziggy barks, and fun is had. Enjoy, and let...
Bee, Cass, and Social Media Intern Asha head to the Families Belong Together Rally to interview actual humans who believe that children should not be separated from their parents and held in "detention" centers. Also, some sounds from speeches, songs, etc. Humanity prevails, and people still care. Recorded June 30, 2018.
A continuation from episode 2 (we had a lot of rage to disperse), in which we talk with Chief Engineer Quinn about racism, Charlottesville, Israel, and hate crimes. All music courtesy of Quinn, and one of his many bands!
We had set out to talk about connection this week, and we do get there eventually. Children in cages at the Southern Border seemed more important right now. Recorded the day before Trump called a mulligan, but his EO may have made things worse.
