Is Public Cloud Right for My Company?

3/1/2023
Cloud computing, or simply ‘cloud’, has transformed our lives in every way, whether you know it or not! It’s everywhere. We use it to listen to music, buy products. And companies use it to run their entire company operations. The Buzz. 1: “I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now From up and down and still somehow It’s cloud illusions I recall I really don’t know clouds at all.” [Joni Mitchell song, 1969, on her “Clouds” album] We’ll clear that up for Joni, because there are different types of clouds for businesses. Public cloud is for companies that want to utilize a shared infrastructure to set up their cloud environment. Private cloud enables a company to set up its own infrastructure in the cloud. Hybrid cloud is for a company that needs a mix of private and public cloud. Today on Ready. Set. Transform, we’re talking about Public cloud and exploring its value from scalability and cost savings to improved business outcomes and shorter innovation cycles. This round table is a must-listen if your organization needs to understand whether public cloud is a fit for your enterprise. Here are insights from three headline-making CEOs: The Buzz 2: “Public cloud computing is a game-changer that is transforming the IT landscape, enabling companies to be more agile, scalable and cost-effective.” [Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft] The Buzz 3: “The public cloud has unlocked tremendous innovation, making it possible for businesses of all sizes to access the benefits of cutting-edge technology.” [Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services] The Buzz 4: “The public cloud has the potential to transform every aspect of business, from the way we operate to the way we serve our customers.” [Tim Cook, CEO of Apple] We'll ask Pamela Chance at SAP and Len Harms at Rizing for their take on the world of public cloud on “Is Public Cloud Right for My Company?” today on Ready. Looking Under the Hood: The Intelligent Enterprise

12/20/2021
The Buzz 1: “Everybody can relax...I found the car. Needs some suspension work and shocks. Brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear end.” (Raymond Stantz PhD, played by Dan Ackroyd, Ghostbusters, 1984 sci-fi film) The Buzz 2: “Hey Chad, does this thing go any faster? We're kind of in a hurry, and I could really open her up, and if you wanted me to drive.” (Natalie Cook, played by Cameron Diaz, Charlie's Angels, 2000 American action-comedy film) Speaking of cars, “looking under the hood” entails examining the engine – the oil, water, transmission fluid, brake fluid, battery, belts, hoses and more – to determine if it's road-worthy. Today, we’ll explore the under the hood core business processes, data sources and integration, innovation, technology adoption, and change management implementation that determine if a business is a resilient, profitable, and sustainable Intelligent Enterprise. We’ll ask SAP’s David Robinson, Philipp Herzig, and Phil Loewen for their take on the next-generation Intelligent Enterprise and how your company can arrive there safely and happily, Tune in for Looking Under the Hood: The Intelligent Enterprise. Business Transformation Success Priorities: Agile Continuous Fast

11/12/2021
The Buzz – Recent headlines : – “As the pace of change continues to accelerate, organisations are searching for new routes to growth. Successful transformation journeys will be critical to leading businesses into a better future.” – “To lead a digital transformation, CEOs must prioritize.” – “To avoid digital transformation overload: prioritize the right company initiatives.” – “Because digital transformation strategy involves so many moving parts, leaders may struggle to prioritize the key issues and projects.” As companies in every industry navigated through the global pandemic – from shops and restaurants adapting to changing consumer behaviors, to large multinationals adjusting to working remotely across continents and time zones – they came to recognize that the path to success requires business transformation. And while each company’s transformation journey is unique, they all require agile processes to meet the challenges of dynamic markets and still-evolving business needs. How to get there? The top three priorities for business transformation need to include leadership alignment on long-term strategic objectives; moving from on-premise software to the cloud; and consistently achieving A+ customer experiences across all touch points. We’ll ask Angela Massey at SAP and Jesse Rothermel at EY for their insights on Business Transformation Success Priorities: Agile, Continuous, Fast. Join us for this new episode of Ready. Set. I Know My Company Needs to Transform – But How? What Is Cloud?

10/28/2021
The Buzz: “I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now, from up and down, and still somehow…it’s cloud illusions I recall…I really don’t know clouds at all.” (Both Sides Now, 1966 song) In an Accenture survey of 750 CIOs in March 2020 (cited in the Harvard Business Review), many CIOs reported that only 20% to 30% of their work was being done through the cloud. Prior to 2020, many had planned to move 80% of their environments to the cloud “within the next 8 to 10 years”, but the digital demands brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated this timeline to 3 years (= 2023]. Many questions remain. What is cloud? Does it mean the same thing for all enterprises? What are the most common departure points and landing positions for a company migrating its business to the cloud? How do you define the value of this transition? Today, we’ll seek answers to these business-critical questions in conversation with SAP’s David Weisman and Lalit Patil on I Know My Company Needs to Transform – But How? aka What Is Cloud and What Can It Do for YOUR Business? Join us for this new episode of Ready. Set. Transform. presented by RISE with SAP.

Moving to the Cloud: How to Prepare and Succeed?

10/21/2021
The Buzz 1: “Technology like art is a soaring exercise of the human imagination.” (Daniel Bell, sociologist, writer, professor at Harvard University) The Buzz 2: “The great growling engine of change – technology.” (Alvin Toffler, one of the world's outstanding futurists) The Buzz 3: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” (Sir Arthur C. Clarke, CBE FRAS, co-wrote the screenplay for the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey) Technology investments are a big part of the budget for companies in all industries. And under that tech umbrella, one of the top priorities is to move legacy systems to the cloud. The advantages are tremendous – 24x7 access from anywhere, flexibility to get more computing power, and always up-to-date software are just a few. There’s no question about it, moving to the cloud is a smart decision. However, there are several options in the market and different types of cloud deployment. How do you choose the best one for your company? What are the first steps of a successful transformation journey? What does the roadmap look like? And finally, is your organization really ready to drive the transformation? We’ll ask Clay Caldwell at SAP and Harish Chava at Weill Cornell Medicine to discuss the concepts, drivers, and requirements that can help your company move to the cloud. Are All Companies Becoming Technology Companies?

10/4/2021
The Buzz 1: “Technology is anything that wasn’t around when you were born.” (Alan Kay) The Buzz 2: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is equivalent to magic.” (Arthur C. Clarke) We live in a world dominated by technology companies: new IPOs every month, stocks constantly reaching all-time highs, the number of apps in our pockets growing by hundreds every year. All businesses rely on technology to deliver services and products – technology has become the standard. Small enterprises run their entire business on pay-as-you-go ERP software. Your favorite restaurant uses an app to deliver food. Real estate agencies can get you a new apartment on their website. There’s no way back. However, does this mean all companies are tech companies? Is technology truly changing existing business models or simply adding a digital layer? How can traditional companies take advantage of technology to transform their business? What is business transformation from a technology perspective? We'll ask Teri Hamann at SAP and Mike Maiolo at Rizing for their insights on how business transformation creates competitive advantage when technology is infused into all areas of the business, on “Are All Companies Becoming Technology Companies?” Join us for Ready. Set. Transform. Presented by RISE with SAP.
