"A Constructive Ministry" 1 Timothy 4:11-16 In our text today, Paul continues on with his encouragement to Timothy to be a man of God. He lets him know and in an indirect way he speaks to each of us, to be men and women of God. Notice he talks about how our speech, our life, our love, faith, purity are to be examples of that of a Godly man or woman. I trust that you will let these scriptures encourage you to be all that God created you to be as a person serving our Savior and Lord Jesus...

"Sound Doctrine" 1 Timothy 4:6-10 Last time Paul told Timothy to be aware of false teaching. Now he says when you point out false teaching you are doing what a good minister is to do. The he makes a statement that a good minister is to preach Bible truths, sound doctrine, for that is good for all people now and throughout all eternity. I trust you have a desire to hear the teaching of Bible truth and that you read the Bible regularly and you go to a church where God's Word is the foundation...

"Deceptive Teaching" 1 Timothy 4:1-5 Every place Paul preached the gospel, soon after he left. Someone would come along with a teaching that said in some way or another Paul did not give you the whole truth. They would begin to teach some type of false gospel. Paul kept reminding the churches, as he would today if he were here, that the gospel is simple, free, by grace. Paul often got angry at those who would pervert the gospel. In this text, he lets us know that false teaching is of...

1 Timothy 3:14-16 "Church Conduct" One of the first things that caught my eye in this text is that the church is God's. It belongs to Him. We need to be reminded of this in our day when people think they can be faithful to the Lord without the church. Since the church is God's, remember Christ's statement in Matthew 16:18, "I will build my church." To neglect the church is a slap in the face of Christ. The church is meant for worship of God, praise for our Lord, teaching of His truth....

1 Timothy 3:8-13 "Office of Deacon" Last time we looked at the characteristics of a pastor. This week we look at the deacons. You will notice that the list that tells us how a deacon should be spiritually, is very much like that of a pastor. God calls men of integrity and spiritual maturity to be His leaders. This means they were men of deep faith in Jesus Christ who were good men at home and lived for Christ at all times, not just at church. God still calls men to accept the office of...

1 Timothy 3:2-7 "Office of Pastor" Last time we looked at the call of a pastor. Now we take a look at the kind of man a pastor should be. I must say no man is perfect or totally displays the characteristics given in this text, but he does live in such a way that there is no question of his commitment to Christ and the church. In a few words, the pastor is to live in a Christ like manner, follow Christ in such a way that the pastor can say to his church "follow me as I follow Christ". Pray...

1 Timothy 2:8-15 "The Family in Worship" In this text Paul discusses the place of men and women in public worship. I know this is a very touchy subject in our culture today. Many think Paul is a woman hater and should not be listened to while others just gloss over what Paul says. I believe that Paul, who was inspired by the Holy Spirit, is saying in this passage of scripture that worship is to be orderly; that there is no room for chaos in a worship service. Because God has set up men to...

1 Timothy 2:1-7 "Prayer in Worship" Paul now turns from the need for sound teaching to the church, to giving instruction on worship. It should not surprise us he does this because for a Christian to be successful in their work with Christ, it is essential to know the truths of scripture and for uplifting worship. An important part of worship is to spend time in prayer. Prayer is one of the wonderful privileges we have as Christians. We come right into the presence of our Creator and place...

1 Timothy 1:18-20 "Doctrine from the Pulpit" As Paul instructs this young pastor, he lets Timothy know there is a great need for the church to know the truth of the Gospel. Paul actually lets him know that in teaching the doctrinal truth of the Christian life, he will need to do so as if he were in a fight; a spiritual battle against Satan, the world and our own desires. The only way to win is to have our lives filled with God's Spirit and our hearts and minds in the Word of God. Paul...

1 Timothy 1:12-17 "Paul's Testimony" Paul lets us know he thinks of himself as the worst of sinners. He knew before he met Christ he did his best to destroy men and women who had trusted Christ as their Savior. But then he met Christ in a very wonderful way and his life was radically changed. Even though most of us were not as evil as Paul was before he met Christ, we all are sinners and stand condemned to hell and in need of Christ, just like Paul was. Let this testimony of Paul's touch...

1 Timothy 1:1-11 "Danger" The letter to Timothy by Paul is a letter to encourage young Timothy in the ministry. Paul knew his ministry was soon to end and in a sense this letter was Paul handing off his work to Timothy. This letter is full of sound teaching of the truths of Christian living. This will be a great journey as we will be encouraged and challenged along with Timothy in our walk with Jesus Christ. As Paul begins he gave a warning of danger, danger of false teachers who pervert...
