Grow Together (365 Days of Daring Faith #18)

Ephesians 4:16 (NLT) God has wired us to grow, not in our own strength, but with the strength and help of others. There are many things in life we will never learn by ourselves. We learn and grow from other people and with other people. ******* VISIT:

Keep Your Faith Up (365 Days of Daring Faith #17)

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) The word “faith” means so many different things to so many people. It is a sacred word and a secular word. We’re told to have faith that everything will work out. Or to trust the process of life. Or to believe that some trying circumstance is for our good. ******* VISIT:

Crowned with Love (365 Days of Daring Faith #16)

Psalm 103:4 (NLT) Do you ever ask yourself what people would think if they ever found out about your past — secrets, hurts, and heartbreaks? Do you wonder what it would feel like, what kind of emotional state you would be in, if someone shined a light on all the bad parts of your life? ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

Fix or Forgive (365 Days of Daring Faith #15)

Romans 12:17 (NLT) A mother apologizes for abandoning her son. After so many years, she asks for a second chance. The son thinks to himself that it’s not really that easy. Am I supposed to just give in and forgive her? Surely, justice should be served in some way. She should feel the pain of abandonment — the same pain I felt, right? ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

Rejoice. Pray. Give Thanks. (365 Days of Daring Faith #14)

I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) If you do nothing else in life, here are three things you should do that will make your days brighter and better: Rejoice. Pray. Give Thanks. Nothing blows the storms out of the path before us like rejoicing. Nothing keeps us stable, steady, and trusting like prayer. And nothing keeps us aware of our blessings like giving thanks. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

Overflowing Joy (365 Days of Daring Faith #13)

John 15:11 (NLT) What do you think about when you think about God’s joy? It is overflowing, even overwhelming. It can’t be decreased or jaded by any circumstance. God’s joy is incomprehensible and unmeasurable. Nothing gets Him down or puts Him in a bad mood — not even bad weather or traffic jams. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

God Is Enough (365 Days of Daring Faith #12)

Matthew 6:26-27 (NLT) There seems to never be enough. Some complain of not having enough time while others gripe about not having money. Not enough houses or cars, not enough knowledge or investments, not enough credit or enough good health. Not having enough often leads to worry. But worry never works. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

The Lord Is For You (365 Days of Daring Faith #11)

Psalm 118:5-6 (NLT) David was a man who endured great distress and danger and also experienced God’s great goodness and grace. In this verse, he encapsulates both of these experiences. He lets the world know that the Lord is the God of the weak and the weary and He listens to those who are intent on seeking Him. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

Chosen To Be Holy (365 Days of Daring Faith #10)

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NLT) Who is sufficient enough or perfect enough to be holy in everything? No one is. Neither you or I are capable of complete holiness in all things. We can be holy only by the power of God working in our lives. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

Always and Forever (365 Days of Daring Faith #9)

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT) We live in a cloudy world. Terror and trouble are on every side. Chaos and confusion surround us at nearly every turn. However, as bad as some things seemingly are, they could always be worse. It is a credit to the love, mercy, and faithfulness of the Lord that they are not. Because of God, there is hope for brighter days. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

What Do You Seek Most? (365 Days of Daring Faith #3)

Psalm 27:4 (NLT) What is it that you seek most? What are you in pursuit of? Is there something you desperately want beyond anything else in life? Some people are seeking power while others pursue positions. Others are attempting to find the quickest route to millions of dollars while many more are on the hunt for the next big opportunity. Still others are searching for a certain man or woman of their dreams. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey...

Are You Afraid? (365 Days of Daring Faith #2)

Psalm 27:1 (NLT) God is a steady and sure, bright and brilliant light for all His children. We would do well to relinquish ourselves from following after the darkness in the world and turn our feet and heart to the light that shines from above. God is not a reflection or expression of light, He IS light. ******* VISIT: Faith for the Journey Faith for the Journey Blog

Are You Convinced? (365 Days of Daring Faith #1)

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) We like to think — or at least imagine — that we can be close to someone in life. Not the sort of pseudo closeness we hear about in love songs and in movies, but closeness that is marked by truth and moved by intimate moments. Our human nature yearns to trust wholeheartedly, to be supported strongly, and to love gently. At certain points of life, however, we may feel abandoned or betrayed. When difficulties come, we may feel disappointed and as if there is no one to...

Finding Rest For Your Soul (FFTJ #63)

Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:29, NLT). We live in a world that is so used to being in constant frenetic motion. Our heads ache from all the noise. Our eyes burn from the persistent visual engagement. Our face is weighted by the pressure to impress and be better than the next person. Our legs and arms have all but given up from the increased stress of running here and there and...

Change Your Life Through Forgiveness (FFTJ #62)

Today's Scripture Reading is from Matthew 18:33, NLT: "Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?" Jesus tells a story in Matthew 18 about a man who was forgiven by a king for a debt he owed, but he chose not to forgive a fellow servant of his indebtedness to him. At the end of this parable, the king hears of the injustice and sends the first man to prison to be tortured. Embracing thoughts of bitterness and resentment toward another person is indeed...

A Stone For Every Goliath (FFTJ #61)

Today's Scripture Reading is from 1 Samuel 17:48-50, ESV: "When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no...

Victory Can Be Messy (FFTJ #60)

Today's Scripture Reading is from Psalms 108:13, (NIV): "With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies." On Sunday night, February 3, 2013, like millions of Americans, I watched Super Bowl 47 - a matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Beyond the money spent on advertising, the festivities, the travel, the proud parents, family members, and friends, the heart-warming performance by the Sandy Hook students with Jennifer Hudson, the Alicia...

Today I Saw a Perfect Sunset…And It Taught Me Something (FFTJ #59)

Today's Scripture Reading is from Proverbs 23:18, (NKJV): "Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off" I don’t normally write about rainbows, sunsets, or most nature-themed subjects for that matter. But I was going home from running errands one day and I saw a perfectly beautiful sunset. For about half a mile, it did not move. It just stayed there — shining brightly, beautifully circular, red-orange, hanging high in the sky, but in the distance touching earth. The world is...

Perfect Timing (FFTJ #58)

Today's Scripture Reading is from Psalm 62:5, (NKJV): "My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him." We live in a world that wants everything fast. From high speed internet to fast food restaurants, to fast cars and automatic bill pay, it goes without being said that instant gratification is the order of the day. If we’re not careful, we can fall into the trap of wanting things to happen immediately to the neglect of perfect timing. In a world that prides itself on...

Belonging to the Good Shepherd (FFTJ #57)

Today's Scripture Reading is from Psalms 23:1, (NIV): "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing." We all want to belong to something or to someone. Having a sense of belonging is one of the basic needs of all human beings and is considered to be a major source of human motivation. We long to be loved, accepted, and appreciated for who we are. When we are a part of something, such as a family, we feel safe and have or are able to get whatever we need. It is the same way with God. He is our...
