Final Guys 46: Veronica

Hailed as the scariest movie on Netflix, Veronica is an exclusive film to the streaming service that is taking the horror world by storm. But does it live up to the hype? Our weekly horror curation consisted of Cold Hell, Wild Wild Country, #fromjennifer, Day of the Dead (2018), The Rift, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Power Rangers, Return of the Exorcists, Jessica Jones, Stranded by Bracken Macleod, and Single White Psychopath Seeks Same by Jeff Strand.

Final Guys 45: Annihilation

Because of Jack's advancing age and Hunter's porn contract, we had to bring in a Final Girl this week to help us review ANNIHILATION! Complex, deep, and wildly unpopular, the new Natalie Portman vehicle is sure to split audiences. Our weekly horror curation consisted of The Core, Sweet, Sweet Lonely Girl, Nemesis, and Executive Decision.

Final Guys 44: Dead Shack

This week we hacked our way through the Shudder exclusive film, DEAD SHACK! Our weekly horror curation consisted of Coherence, Chris Claremont's X-Men, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Lust of the Vampire Girls, Awaken the Shadowman, Altered Carbon, Night of the Something Strange, Jeepers Creepers 3, Devil's Gate, Veronica, The Shape of Water, and The Lodger by Marie Belloc-Lowndes.

Final Guys 43: Mute

Things got a bit wonky during the recording of this episode because we're switching recording methods, so bear with us during any noise and other nonsense. Not that it matters much because this week we're talking MUTE the new Netflix original dud. Our curation for the week included Patchwork, Digging Up the Marrow, Threads, Curse of the Man Who Sees UFOs, Radius, Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri, Killing Ground, All I See is You, and Down from Beast Mountain by Gerry Griffiths.

Final Guys 42: 8MM

Our second Staff Picks episode is the 1998 film 8MM. If you haven't seen it, grab a drink first and be prepared to take a long, scalding shower after it's over. With an all-star cast including Nicholas Cage, James Gandolfini, Peter Stormare, Joaquin Phoenix, and Catherine Keener, this Joel Schumacher film doesn't have any Batman nipples, but it has a lot of chills. Panned by critics during its release, this film has gained a cult-classic status and it's well deserved.

Final Guys 41: Tragedy Girls

2018 started with a whimper in the genre, but when TRAGEDY GIRLS strikes, things suddenly are looking up! An outstanding cast and production team have this smallish movie already grabbing at a top ten spot for the year. Our weekly curation consisted of The Gate, The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, Batman vs Two Face, Lego Batman, Black Panther, and Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary) by Jeff Strand.

Final Guys 40: Tales from the Crypt - Demon Knight

For our first Curator's Choice episode, we traipsed back to 1995 for the cult-classic film Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight! Directed by Ernest Dickerson and starring Billy Zane, William Sadler, Jada Pinkett Smith, Dick Miller, and Thomas Haden Church, Demon Knight grinds its all-star cast to a bloody pulp. Releasing right before the outbreak of terrible CG in horror films, Demon Knight boasts some outstanding practical FX throughout. Check it out!

Final Guys 39: The Ritual

After a few clunkers, Netflix upped their game by acquiring David Bruckner's The Ritual. Based a novel by Adam Nevill, The Ritual is what we love about streaming. Our horror curation for the week consisted of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, The Phoenix Tapes '97, William Shatner's Get a Life!, Red State, Red Christmas, Black Mirror, Shuttle, The Core, A Ghost Story, and the novel The Witch's Backbone by Pam Morris.

Final Guys 38: The Cloverfield Paradox

For this bonus episode of Final Guys we had to go to outer space for The Cloverfield Paradox. Netflix had such an incredible release directly after the Super Bowl that we couldn't wait another week to discuss it! But did it live up to the first two gems in the series?

Final Guys 37: Winchester

Helen Mirren starring in a film about the Winchester house? Sounds like a dream come true. Or more like a nightmare... Our horror curation for the week includes The Monster Project, The Last Sect, Patient Seventeen, The Beguiled, You're Next, Godzilla, Darkness, Escape From Tomorrow, Black Mirror, and Hunter read Raid by KS Merbeth!

Episode 36: Mom and Dad

Nicholas Cage let off his leash in a horror film? Yes, please! This week we covered the glorious Mom and Dad that everyone needs to watch on VOD! Our curation for the week includes Life, Jennifer's Body, Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning, The core, Halloween 4, 5, 6 Documentary, Wish Upon, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Empire of the Dark, and Frailty. Hunter read Killer Tapes and Shattered Screens by Caetlin Benson-Allott and Jason read Fury of the Orcas by Hunter Shea.

Episode 35: Brawl in Cell Block 99

This week we watched Brawl in Cell Block 99 starring Vince Vaughn and written and directed by S. Craig Zahler. It's unlike anything you've seen Vaughn in before. Our horror curation for the week included The Vault, The Alienist, The Howling, Super Dark Times, Happy Death Day, Amityville: Awakening, The End of the F**king World, Dead Set, and F/X. Hunter also read the outstanding Teeth of the Sea by Tim Waggoner.

Episode 34: Before I Wake

One of the Final Guy's favorites, Mike Flanagan, finally had one of his movies release, Before I Wake. Even though this movie stars Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane, it took years to finally hit Netflix. Our curation for the week included The End of the Fucking World, Brawl in Cell Block 99, It Stains the Sand Red, 8mm, The Creep Behind the Camera, 47 Meters Down, Brimstone, Unsolved Mysteries, Psycho Sanitarium by Chet Williamson, and The Summer Job by Adam Cesare.

Episode 33: Mayhem

We're going hard to start 2018 with MAYHEM starring Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving. If you thought The Belko Experiment needed more humor, then this is the movie for you. Our weekly horror curation consisted of Mansfield 66/67, Dead Awake, Justice League Dark, The Punisher, The Making of Bad Ben, Bright, Super Dark Times, Beyond Skyline, and The X-Files. We also read Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King and Richard Chizmar and Quiet Places: A Novella of Cosmic Folk Horror by Jasper Bark.

Episode 32: The Best Horror of 2017

With 2017 in the bag, we had to commemorate a great year in horror by releasing our Best Horror Movies of 2017 lists! We were all of the genre in these picks and our lists varied quite a bit. Episode 31: The Last Jedi

'Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the theaters, not a human was missing, not even a Jedi... That was terrible. This week we delved into the small indie film THE LAST JEDI. As usual, we also watched a ton of horror movies including Black Christmas (2006), The Shape of Water, Red Christmas, The Passion of Darkly Noon, The Resurrected, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. The Final Guys: The Final Word in Horror–A horror podcast hosted by Jason Brant, Jack Campisi and Hunter Shea.

Episode 30: Black Christmas

Nothing says Merry Christmas like the original slasher Black Christmas! Bob Clark knows how to make a good holiday film for the entire family. We also devoured The Thing from Another World, Jaws Finatics, VHS Massacre, Scrooged, Interior, and First Power. The Final Guys: The Final Word in Horror–A horror podcast hosted by Jason Brant, Jack Campisi and Hunter Shea.
