Turn-of-the-century musical about an Indiana tomboy who falls for a college student but cannot make her dad see how wonderful he is. Marjorie Winfield begins a romance with William Sherman who lives across the street. William does not believe in marriage or money, which causes friction with Marjorie's father, who is the local bank vice-president. Things get worse when rumours start to fly about town that Marjorie's father is an alcoholic. Based on Booth Tarkington's Penrod stories.
